SocialOomph is a tool that the enterprising internet marketer can use to reach the largest number of followers on the wildly popular social networking site Twitter.
Formerly known as Tweetlater, this is an online platform that gives the subscriber a large amount of tools to manage Twitter marketing efforts. Using SocialOomph for Twitter has plenty of benefits, but it also comes with a couple of caveats.
The Benefits Of Using SocialOomph For Twitter
Twitter, just like any other social networking, is largely a popularity site. The more people who follow your tweets, the greater your chances of reaching potential customers. Your followers are somewhat pre-qualified; if they are not interested in you and your business, they will quickly un-follow your Twitter profile.
So how do you most effectively reach this captive audience? SocialOomph makes it easy by offering tools that automatically respond to your Twitter followers and schedule tweets for future dates and times. But more than that, this program does the following:
• Tracks keyword usage.
• Send a direct message to each new follower.
• Shortens URLs.
• Automatically follows those who follow you – and vice versa.
• Finds new friends while eliminating spammers in the results.
• Identifies power users so you can follow them.
• Integrated console to manage more than one Twitter account.
Using SocialOomph for Twitter saves a lot of time by giving you an autoresponder and a way to filter the results of your searches. The scheduling feature is quite nice, allowing you to plan tweets even when you are unavailable.
SocialOomph – Considerations
Before you run out and sign up for SocialOomph, be aware that there a couple things you need to know first. For one, you do not get all the features listed above unless you sign up for a professional account. You will get a free weeks trial period when you first enrol to use all features but at the end of this period you will be asked to pay the subscription fee. It is a bit pricey, but if you use Twitter for internet marketing and maintain several accounts, it could well be good value for your money.
You should also be aware that SocialOomph recently changed their policy due to Twitter claiming that recurring tweets are a violation of the site’s Terms of Service. Duplicate content is considered spam, basically. This includes using the same URL in more than one tweet. This policy enforcement came about due to members scheduling the same message weekly or monthly, in the hopes of saturating their followers with a link to their site.
When this rule when into effect on October 12, 2009, it effectively reduced the number of Twitter followers to some people’s accounts dramatically, paring down the list only to those who play by the Twitter rules. So if you were tempted to try SocialOomph in order to send out recurring ad copy, it won’t work.
All in all, Using SocialOomph for Twitter is a very effective way to help streamline the number of manual tasks you must perform in order to use Twitter for internet marketing. Go ahead and give it a try. You may find the free features sufficient or could find it indispensable and well worth the monthly fee for the professional version.

Unfortunately the best features are only available if you have a professional account. But one of the free features that I have found of great use is the ability to send a tweet automatically when somebody starts to follow you.
This is a great way to make that first “connection” – just don’t try to sell something in your first tweet.
Hi Cemil,
There are some good options with the SocialOomph free service. Of course the subscription service has loads more benefits, but best not to spend your money unless you feel the value is there for you and you would get a lot of use out of it.

Another thing to check out, I see. What do you think of the name, SocialOomph? Rolls off the tongue nicely and the “ph” at the end makes it fun to pronounce. Who comes up with these names? And who approves them?
Thanks to your article I am going to give the free bit of SocialOomph a try.
I admit that I have not been able to get excited about Twitter. I know it is because I don’t know how to use it properly, but honestly I find it annoying and so far it has not shown me any concrete evidence of its value.
I know I am wrong and will little by little proceed to fix my shortcoming, but for now I will start by trying the free bits of SocialOomph.
Thanks
Get stuck into it Dobbs, the free version will be sufficient for a start, it’s a great tool
Hi Sean,
SocialOomph definitely saves me a lot of time with Twitter. Like any of the social networking sites, it can take up a lot of time following people, finding new people and sending tweets. SocialOomph really makes life a lot easier.
I think I’ll wait untill I have a website or at least a blog before I use Socialoomph!
Hi Sean,
The special features in SocialOomph certainly make it a superior tool. Managing Twitter accounts effectivly and efficiently a tool like this is necessary and especially if time is a factor.
Also if like me you have more than one Twitter account. I found it simply too difficult to manage the two without a tool such as this. Tweeting became very time consuming and very hard to manage.
Having a tool like SocialOomph means Tweeting becomes very managable and fun to do. Great Info, Sean. Thank-you.
It looks like socialOomph is the way to go! Thanks again Sean for your great information and outstanding presentation. Your expertise is really going to make a difference to my future online.
Thanks for the article on social oomph, I am a member and I like the site.
I will be checking this out. Don’t know that I will get more than the free account, but even that sounds quite useful!
Yes Social oomph has been on my to-get list for a while and I am now seeing that without the blog going properly, maybe its not yet relevant. I’m putting this in next week’s pile until the blog is functioning – learning all these new sites functionalities has been huge input- but sounds like a hugely useful tool and worth the subscription price if it saves time and ensures you don’t forget to Tweet about your blog post!
Hi Sean
Another great article. I have looked at social oomph and have bookmarked it for later on.
I am going to build up a following on Twitter and Digg first. Plenty of time for others later on. Thank you.
