IM Tool Of The Day: EzineArticles.com

We’ve talked in the past about how helpful Ezinearticles.com can be for you. Here is a post directly dedicated to telling you why you need an account with this site.

Three Reasons Why You Should Open An Account

1.  Get traffic to your website. Pre-sell on this site and the bio box will send people to your site

2. SEO. Anchored keywords pointing to your site from this site will get you search engine traffic via search engine spiders and people too.

3. Your articles are available for syndication if others want to publish on their site. They must keep your bio box and links in tact so you’ll get further search engine and potential human traffic as a result.

Of all the article directories, this one has consistently been the biggest bang for your buck. The site has editors and they have strict guidelines so follow them and you should have no trouble.  You can even use this tool in conjunction with other social marketing and networking tools as well. Feed it on RSS feeds on other sites as well as set up to automatically Tweet on Twitter when you’ve had a new article approved. Some affiliate marketers use this tool daily to build SEO and get potential customers to their website.

Which Blogging Platform Should You Use?

Regardless of whether you want your new blog to be with a free provider or you intend to have your own domain name and hosting, you still have an important decision to make. Which blogging platform do you want to use?

Deciding on a Blog Platform

bloggingThis isn’t a decision which should be taken lightly, especially since you could conceivably be using whichever blogging platform you choose for a long time to come. You can see why it is important to take some time over your decision; while you can move your blog at a later date if you wish, it still involves a certain amount of hassle and it’s something you want to try and avoid if you can.

The answer lies in looking at all the main providers and seeing what they actually provide you with. Visit some IM forums as well and see what other users have to say about each provider and the service you get. If you are using your own domain name and hosting then you don’t need to worry about sticking within their rules and regulations, but you still want to know that your chosen blogging platform is user friendly and will do what you want it to do.

Make Blogging Easier

Ideally you want your blogging platform to make the whole process of posting to your blog quick and easy. If it’s difficult to use or doesn’t make the grade in any way, you will find it irritating to use over the long term. Think about how you want your blog to look too – will your chosen blogging platform help you to achieve that look?

It takes time to build traffic to a blog, and with that on your mind it will be nice to know that you don’t have to worry about how easy the whole thing is to use.

Breaking Up Your Blog Is Hard To Do

Yes, organizing your blog certainly can be time consuming, but it will also make your blog easier to negotiate when your visitors come to see what you have been writing about.

Easier To Read

bloggingIf you look at anyone who is out there blogging in the internet marketing business at the moment, who does even a half decent job, you will notice that they split it up into different sections, all headed in a certain way. For example, if their marketing blog is about internet marketing, they might have a section on traffic generation, another section on building a good website, another on attracting visitors, another on sales and marketing, and so on.

By doing this they can ensure that anyone visiting their internet marketing blog will immediately be able to go to the section they are most interested in, without having to worry about searching through loads of entries which they may have no interest in at all.

Breaking Up Your Blog

Breaking your blog up into sections also makes it easier to write a more rounded blog. Take the internet marketing example for instance. If you didn’t have those sections you might find you tend to write about traffic generation far more than you write about building a good website. Sales and marketing may hardly get a look in at all.

Whatever subject you write about, it’s probably fair to say that you will want to bring in visitors and generate sales for your internet marketing business. If this is the case then having a well rounded blog which appeals to everyone in that specific niche will help increase your sales and encourage more repeat visitors to interact with your internet marketing business.

So make the most of expanding your blog and look for ways to add new but relevant categories from time to time as well. You will benefit from it if you do.

duplicate contentRyan from HubPages popped by in our last post when we talked about using HubPages to promote your product and site.  Ryan reminded us in comments that free sites like HubPages are looking for unique content.

Content Pays

The more content you’ve got out there pointing to your site, the better! But in your quest for online success you might come across online content spinners that take your articles and mix them up with the idea that you can submit the same article to multiple places.  You might also think it’s ok to take one article and send it to 35 article directories. Be very careful of this type of philosophy.  While you might be able to get some backlinks and traffic, you could also get your online wrist slapped. Sites like HubPages and E-ZineArticles want solid, unique content so could simply reject your articles as well.

Maximum Google Juice

There’s a testimonial right on HubPages every time I log in that talks about Google Juice. Sites that will publish your content for you want to be unique otherwise it dilutes their Google juice online so do yourself a favour and take the time to bring something unique to the table when posting online.  While a little bit of regurgitation could save you time and effort, if you don’t provide enough value to the reader and take the time to put effort into your off-page SEO efforts you won’t get much out of them.

Your Blog Traffic Formula

3 things you should use with blogging we talked about a magical traffic formula for your blog traffic.  There are things you need to do to your main blog site to get constant traffic but with each entry you write, you should do a few things to bring in extra traffic.

Today we’ll give you a few tips on coming up with your own formula to use each time you post a new entry.  You may choose to use some of the tools listed below or you may have some of your own but developing a routine (or several alternating routines) can help you get traffic each and every time you post a new blog entry.  These methods will improve your site’s SEO as well!

What’s the formula for getting traffic?

You have to do some blog SEO! While pinging services and search engine spiders will help you get some hits, you also have to devise your own traffic formula to get word out that your blog has got something new that people might be interested in. It can make the difference between a few hits and a lot of traffic with actual subscribers

After each awesome blog entry you write, encourage further traffic by doing a few quick things.

Here are some things you could do:

  • Go to Twitter.com and update your status
  • Sign up for a service like Ping.fm which will update multiple social services
  • Give yourself a thumbs up on StumbleUpon
  • Visit your friends at Plurk.com and tell them you’ve updated your blog
  • Update your MySpace, StumbleUpon, Tumblr and Live Journal blogs and update those
  • Use the bookmarklet Onlywire which updates several services for you
  • Digg your post
  • Submit your post to Yahoo Buzz
  • If the entry is really a good one, you can get a lot of mileage out of it and write an article, Squidoo lens or Hubpage (or all three!) with resource box links to your new blog entry.

If you use Firefox and want to save some time, you could create sets of tabs with these sites home pages loaded so that you can simply write a blog and then open up a new set of tabs to perform the actions quickly and easily.
