A lot of buzz in the internet marketing community states that people aren’t spending as much as usual due to the state of the economy. Is this hurting you specifically? What can you do about it? Some people are refusing to take part in a recession. (Read that post, you’ll be glad you did!) Some people are tweaking their sales copy to appeal to those who want to stretch their dollar further. Others are changing their niche. What can you do to ride out the storm?
Rebuking the Recession
Your attitude will take you far in this business. Be as positive as you can be about your earning potential and execute your plan with decisiveness and passion. If you go in to work each day with an attitude that tells you that you have a 50% chance of failure that day, you will probably be right. Turn that frown upside down!
Tweak Your Sales Copy
Can your product be sold in a way that appeals to people who are worried or stressed out about the world’s economy? You can use that to your advantage! Look at your sales copy now and think about your audience. What might be their barriers to buying? What selling point would sell you on that product? A little sales page tweaking on a semi-regular basis to match current events could substantially increase your conversion rate.
Change Your Niche
Perhaps it’s time to change your niche. Sometimes sales just dwindle because a product or niche is past its prime. Use your research skills to help you find a new niche. We’ll talk about ways of doing that tomorrow so come back (or subscribe to SeanSEO!), please.
The world of business in any industry online or offline has both peaks and valleys. Another way to handle slow times is to use it as an opportunity for personal and intellectual growth. If you have down time, use it to help you get more knowledgeable about your niche, about SEO, about copywriting and other areas that can help you increase your earning potential.
