How Are Your Conversion Rates?

Conversion rates are an important factor in internet marketing. If you’re new to the field of online marketing it won’t take long before you’ll be looking very closely at your conversion rates. The rate of visitors that perform the action you want on your site is the rate of conversion. Converting traffic into customers is the ultimate marketing goal.

It works like this:

If you have 100 visitors and one person buys, you have a rate of 1%. If you sell 3 out of that 100, your conversion rate is 3. This is why traffic isn’t the only important aspect of selling online.  You need conversion.  This might equate to signing up for your offer, clicking a ‘buy now’ button or clicking an advertisement and earning you Google Adsense revenue.

Targeted Traffic Equals Better Conversion

Just because you get website or blog traffic doesn’t mean you’ll get sales.  This is why targeted traffic is important. You want traffic that is ready to buy. You want traffic who will land on your page and find just what they want.

How do you achieve this?

Write copy that encompasses long tail and related keywords.  Help the reader by solving their problems or answering their questions.  Write engaging copy and get your reader to trust you.  Keep an eye on your conversion rates and continually work to improve them through getting more traffic and giving your visitors what they want.  Will you ever reach the destination of the perfect conversion rate?  Probably not but the more you strive for success, the more likely you are to achieve it!

Your Blog Traffic Formula

3 things you should use with blogging we talked about a magical traffic formula for your blog traffic.  There are things you need to do to your main blog site to get constant traffic but with each entry you write, you should do a few things to bring in extra traffic.

Today we’ll give you a few tips on coming up with your own formula to use each time you post a new entry.  You may choose to use some of the tools listed below or you may have some of your own but developing a routine (or several alternating routines) can help you get traffic each and every time you post a new blog entry.  These methods will improve your site’s SEO as well!

What’s the formula for getting traffic?

You have to do some blog SEO! While pinging services and search engine spiders will help you get some hits, you also have to devise your own traffic formula to get word out that your blog has got something new that people might be interested in. It can make the difference between a few hits and a lot of traffic with actual subscribers

After each awesome blog entry you write, encourage further traffic by doing a few quick things.

Here are some things you could do:

  • Go to Twitter.com and update your status
  • Sign up for a service like Ping.fm which will update multiple social services
  • Give yourself a thumbs up on StumbleUpon
  • Visit your friends at Plurk.com and tell them you’ve updated your blog
  • Update your MySpace, StumbleUpon, Tumblr and Live Journal blogs and update those
  • Use the bookmarklet Onlywire which updates several services for you
  • Digg your post
  • Submit your post to Yahoo Buzz
  • If the entry is really a good one, you can get a lot of mileage out of it and write an article, Squidoo lens or Hubpage (or all three!) with resource box links to your new blog entry.

If you use Firefox and want to save some time, you could create sets of tabs with these sites home pages loaded so that you can simply write a blog and then open up a new set of tabs to perform the actions quickly and easily.

3 Things You Should Use With Blogging

blog trafficIf you blog to make money online, here are three tools you need to use straight away. If you’re not already using these tools, they can make a difference to your traffic and your earnings.  If you’re using them already and have some other tools that you find indispensable, we’d love to hear what they are!

RSS

A lot of blog templates have RSS built in. If not, you should add it. Really Simple Syndication can help you feed your blog to other places and have people subscribe to you.  In a future post, we’ll talk about some of the things you can do with your feeds!

MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog or BOTH

I’ve talked a lot about these tools here on SeanSEO and it’s because they add a level of interactivity to your blog. Using these interactive tools puts you in a directory and provides you with colourful widgets for your blog that allow you to see who’s visiting.  When you click on a widget you can be taken to blog communities, ratings pages, tag clouds and individual member lists which can help you find more followers to network with and is a great tool to use for finding places in your niche to comment and trade links with.  There are many benefits to using these services  as they’re a combination of a blog directory and social marketing tool.

Magic Traffic Formula

Now you should go ahead and follow your own magic blog traffic formula to get people to that blog post.  Do you have one yet? This kind of formula will include a handful of actions that you do after each blog post that will bring traffic to your website.  The tools mentioned above will start you off but your little formula for getting extra traffic will help you significantly.  Do you have a formula yet?  If not, stop back tomorrow and I’ll give you a few tips to help you brew up a formula for getting maximum mileage out of each blog post you write.
