Whenever you visit it, you can see what today’s hot trends are based on a top ten list. What could this do for your internet marketing efforts? Plenty!

Blog Posts
Write a blog post about something current and relate it to your niche somehow. This can help you rank in search engines for people looking for information related to that hot topic and once they’re on your page they may subscribe, buy from you, etcetera.
Microblogging
When you post a microblog update about a hot topic, you have a good chance of it being read. When you’re updating Twitter, use a hashtag (a topic tag which is simply done by putting # in front of the topic. Example: #Swineflu or #Election or #Oscars). Your post will be more likely to be read by the masses because people are interested in that topic.
If you put a link to a blog post that can be a great way to get traffic but even if you don’t use a hot topic for link bait, people could still follow your life stream based on finding you interesting and that opens you up for more interesting topics later.
Social Bookmarking
Don’t forget to social bookmark your blog posts related to that hot topic. When you categorize the blog post with a tag that uses the hot trend keyword, it will have more chances of getting read and re-bookmarked thus increasing your potential audience for that post and future blog posts.

Hot trends can spark ideas for new niches or sub niches for your internet marketing business. Getting in on the ground floor of the next hottest trend and being an early adopter is how many successful internet marketers make great money online.
Beyond just getting an overview of the trend itself, Google Trends is a data mining tool so playing with it can give you real insight into the potential for certain topics and demographics. You can compare search terms, export the data, and look at rising trends so you can jump in on a trend just before it becomes hot instead of waiting until it’s already there.
