Using Facebook For ProfitAre you using FaceBook to get back in touch with old high school friends and chat up family and friends? You could also be using it for your Internet Marketing efforts.

If you’re not yet using it, here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Update your status line on FaceBook with your other web 2.0 microblogging or life streaming tools. Why not share links to your blogs, articles, and products pages with your FaceBook friends list? You can update your status line directly as well so that it directly communicates to your FaceBook audience.
  • Create fan pages for your products and your blogs and use these pages to build brand recognition. If you can recruit friends here, you can help build a community of people talking positively about the products you are selling. This can work great for membership sites, e-books, and to draw traffic to a blog (or two!)
  • FaceBook advertising. FaceBook advertising is highly targeted contextual advertising that is seen by people who express an interest in your keywords either by their listed hobbies or by something in their demographics (age, sex, location) and this type of pay per impression or pay per click advertising can be quite inexpensive compared to tier 1 search engine marketing campaigns
  • Communicate with your customers socially. The thing about online marketing is that those that find the fine balance between business and pleasure become likeable to their customers and potential customers and by interacting with those who like to be social; you can win more sales and get more word of mouth referrals
  • Link love. FaceBook pages and profiles can be indexed in search engine results pages so things that you do on your profile and wall could help you get more traffic. Not only will you get search engine traffic from your links but if your friends like what they see, they may send your links out as well and their settings might permit their friends to see the posts they reply on. (Hint…start conversations on FaceBook!)
  • FaceBook groups. Just like other social media sites such as MySpace and Twitter, you can join groups with common interests and this can help you make more online connections. You can join interest groups, fun groups, or groups about topics that are important to you. Facebook groups can get to over a million members in some cases. That’s a lot of potential connections to make!
  • FaceBook Applications. A lot of people who use FaceBook play with the fun applications that exist on the site. These applications can be monetised very nicely to draw traffic to your other websites or even to monetise with Google Adsense. If you develop an app that catches on and becomes popular, it could be extremely profitable!

Web 2.0 spots online can become cash cows for you if you establish yourself. If you let you sparkling personality shine through and you provide a good balance of value and use it to your advantage, it could definitely increase your earning potential both directly and indirectly.

Have a most outstanding day.

It’s good to see that there is much more to facebook than just some updates about what people have for dinner :)

I like the idea of strengthening a brand with a facebook fan page very much.
