If you want traffic to your website, you’ll need to optimise it. Website Optimisation for your entire site is vital for optimum results. Search engines look for various things when deciding that a site is worthy of being sent traffic.
A lot of website owners work really hard to optimise their home page but it’s important to remember that every single page of your website can impact the amount of online traffic you can get and can also impact how your visitors react as well.
Website Optimisation Checklist:
Keyword Optimisation
Does every page in your site utilise keyword optimisation? Adding relevant keywords to every page on your website can help you.
Search engines crawl every page in the site and the more pages, the better because there are more pages for visitors to view as well.
Meta Tags
Are you populating all meta tags on every single website page? Be sure to remember to utilise fields for demonstrating an excerpt of each page to tell people in search engine results pages what they’ll get if they click, and populate other tag fields as well.
Naming Images
Do you add keywords to image file names? Are you using images regularly? A picture really does help sell a product. And because search engines cannot read the content of images, adding a keyword to a file name is going to help the search engines categorise your site.
Your having images with relevant names could increase your search engine ranking for your desired keywords and having keyword rich file names on every page in your site is definitely helpful.
Easy Navigation From Any Page
Clear navigation from every page is important as far as Website Optimisation goes. No one wants to get lost on a website. If they do, they’ll typically leave the site altogether. If you give people clear ability to navigate from every single page, this is helpful.
Being able to get to the home page from each page is important and if you’re trying to sell something, giving people some place to click to from each page that can help guide them through the sales process is going to help you.
Because search engines can index every page on your website, people can enter it from any page at all. Not everyone arrives via your landing page so treating every page as if it is your landing page is an excellent internet marketing strategy.
Have a most outstanding day.

Excellent article, I enjoy every article I read here. Thanks,
and keep bloggin!
Hi Sean,
I think I’m doing okay with this area. Or, at least a lot better than the social networking areas. I’ve watched all your SEO tutorials and I think I have a pretty good grounding in this.
Hi Sean,
thanks for the list – it’s really important to make sure the website is optimized for what you want to achieve.
In regards to easy navigation – I like your option to go to the next/previous post. Do you have a plugin to create that or do you put it in manually?
The option I use is built into the theme Renee. There may well be a plugin that will do it, although I am not totally sure.
Hi Sean,
I’ll be so pleased when I become good at optimising my website like it’s second nature. Until then I will follow the checklist here.
I’ve learned here that naming images is important for website optimisation. I didn’t realise the importance of that at all. Great content here. Thank you.
Thank you for the checklist.
I have to copy this list and add it into my blog plan otherwise I could forget half the things here. I can see the recurring themes in many posts I have read throughout the past 6 weeks about optimising my blog.
Another great resource.
