The more links you have pointing at your money making websites, the better.  Why not utilise some free services to give yourself some link love and positively impact your SEO?  There are loads of ways to use free services to your advantage and today’s post will give you some great linking strategy ideas.

Write blog posts or articles with appropriately anchored keywords and long tail phrases on free sites. These sites that get human and internet traffic and can be very beneficial to you. Here are some examples of tools you can use:

  1. linking strategiesOpen a MySpace account and use the blog on it.  You could even open two if you have more than one e-mail account.
  2. Open a Blogger account
  3. Open a WordPress account
  4. Write HubPages and Squidoo Lenses
  5. Try Tumblr and post regular updates with links to your work and articles
  6. Add websites to community forum signature lines and free online profiles

Ping and social bookmark your posts on all the above sites!

Not only can you anchor keywords to your other sites within these free services but don’t forget to put your many sites (free and paid sites) on all the blogrolls.  Consider making a list of links to your free sites, hubs and other online pages so you can use the same blogroll wherever you go. This way, you create a big network of your own work which can positively impact your search engine optimisation and if people like what they see one of your blogs, chances are they’ll visit other blogs too so if you work in multiple niches you can refer people to your other sites ,especially where services are complimentary.   Happy linking!

Have a most outstanding day.

Hi Sean

There are some great ideas there.

I have 2 WordPress blogs currently. How often would I have to post to these other sites. As often as I do for your current sites? That’s a lot of work. I don’t know if I would be able to keep up with it all

Hi Sean,

I haven’t used MySpace, Blogger, Tumblr, or HubPages. Do you still think I should be using these sites in 2010? Or, do you think using a Squidoo page, wordpress blogs and the social networking sites to link to my main site is enough?

It would be really interesting to see if this still is a workable strategy today.

Jazz

I would think the more you can use the better. I am looking at using the other tools Sean has mentioned to manage it and save a lot of time.

Hi Gee,

It just feels like there is never enough time to get it all done.

I would agree Jazz

I believe we need to be going through all this information carefully, even reading it several times until it sinks it, and then having a coordinated plan to implement it. It will be one step at a time. We have to be sure we don’t start thinking that we need to implement it all tomorrow.
The first thing I will be looking at is all the social media tools especially the ones that can do several jobs at the same time

One step at a time is the way to go. Taking too much on at once is more likely to harm you than help you ;-)

I am using some of the tool already, but not all of them. I guess I have to look for more automation (like PeopleBrowsr) and test the “Batch Processing” Sean mentioned before. Is there a chance to extend the day to 48 hrs? I have cut the sleep out already ;)

Hi Renee,

I know what you mean. I feel permanently tired. It’s like a regular state of being. I try to take heart though that the hardest part is getting all these sites up.

I think all the hard work is done upfront to get things moving. Hopefully as we go along we’ll create a routine and find a way to save ourselves some time. Maintaining them has to be a little easier. :)

There’s a beach with our name on it, Renee. We’ll be there one day soon.

Hi Sean

Way to go! I like the thought of creating a big network of my own work and positively impacting my SEO. What a great idea. This is another article I am marking for after the competition.

I have seen so many amazing strategies in the last 3 weeks that I hope once I really get going that I will one day be able to create or find some to help others.

Thankyou Sean

I agree with Gee…there are so many different outcomes from all the info we are being “bombarded” with ( in a good way!) that it becomes an overload….but hey..it’s nature and only nthe strong survive!!!! \m/

When it comes to using free tools for linking strategies I like the idea of making a list of links to your free sites, hubs and other online pages so you can use the same blogroll wherever you go. That would certainly simplify maintaining consistent blogrolls across your various blogs and web sites.

Nice idea.

This post ties in nicely with other posts on this blog about getting backlinks to your site. I love your term Link Love! The six points are great places to have in your regular link management.

It’s great that we can get free tools for linking strategies. In fact, it is really fantastic that there are so many free tools available on the internet.

These freebies are there to help us get started on our path. We can even get free Blog accounts to experiment with. It’s just a matter of getting started and there is plenty of information here in these articles.
