How Well Do You Understand Your Website Visitors?

The best part of having your own site is being able to do whatever you want with it. But that comes with a huge caveat which you should fully understand if you want to make the most of your internet or affiliate marketing business and bring in some decent income.

Benefit your Visitors

Google AnalyticsWhile you can do what you want with your site, you should make an effort to attract the kind of website visitors who will benefit you in the long run. If you don’t find out what your website visitors want and need, you will find that your site will exist purely to please you and it will be very hard to keep anyone else interested.

In this sense your website visitors begin to control what you can and can’t do with your site – at least if you want to make money from it. If they ask for something it’s a good idea to at least give it serious consideration, otherwise you may find you will disappoint them and they will go elsewhere. And if they do that, you will lose money and some other lucky webmaster will be only too pleased to take it.

Watch Site Stats

Pay close attention to your site stats and work out what your website visitors seem to appreciate. Which pages are the most popular for you? How many people are signing up to your newsletter offer? If that figure isn’t as high as you would have liked, try and work out how you could get it higher.

In the end your site is controlled by both you and your website visitors. It’s a fine balance but if you get it right you will soon reap the rewards when it comes to cold hard cash. Put the right content and products in place and you will be on a winning streak in no time.

Have a most outstanding day.

Yes have to watch the stats pretty closely. GA is a godsend for all the information it provides

Hi Sean,

I experienced this just recently. I use Google Analytics to check my stats. I write some posts that I like more than others. I feel like they’re a little better in some way.

It totally blew my away when my stats showed that my visitors don’t seem to like the posts that I like. The ones that I didn’t like so much were the ones that had the lowest bounce rate. It totally changed how I choose posts to write. :)

Hi Sean

There are so many things to consider as an internet marketer. Keeping statistics and doing research on business activities is really important. This is also important to do in an offline business but I think statistics are easier to get online as information is easier to capture if you have the right type of software or links to Stat finding programs on the net.

I agree that it is very important to listen to your customers as they are giving feedback about their needs or ideas to make your business better. I like this article you have written because it is showing me how I can greatly improve my business. Thankyou.

As with any business, you have to understand your clients. You have to keep track of who your customers are, what they’re buying, what they might be looking for, what makes them happy and unhappy. It seems sites such as Alexa and Google Analytics provide you with a lot of statistics which is useful in the analysis of your customer base.

I thought all things would be equal and that my KW reseaerch would be reflected in what people were looking at on my site – I have been surprised that this isnt the case and that what webmaster and analytics show at times is very different to what I was expecting – that is why I suppose they use the term organic!
