It can take a lot of time and effort to get to where you want to be in the search engines. How quickly you can climb the search engine rankings depends on many factors, such as: how much competition you have and what tactics you use to improve your SEO.
Some internet marketers find the process of waiting to be frustrating. Instead of just checking and re-checking your stats waiting and hoping, here are some things you can do to help you speed up the SEO process.
Social Bookmarking
By posting social bookmarks for new blog posts, web pages and other online activities, you can drive traffic to your pages as well as make search engines take notice.
Don’t forget to use tags and category names for your blog posts wherever possible. This helps your topic be evident to search engines. The easier you make it for them to see what your site is about, the better rankings you’ll get.
Some activities you might want to try include: StumbleUpon, Delicious, Digg, and listing the link on status lines such as in: Twitter, FriendFeed, Facebook, and MySpace.
Article Marketing
Article directory sites allow you to add backlinks and if you anchor those links with strong keyword phrases you can increase your site’s exposure in search engines.
Web 2.0 Pages
Creating free pages such as Squidoo lenses and HubPages can help search engines take notice. Follow editorial guidelines but consider linking to your site as well as adding RSS feeds to it.
Blog Commenting
Blog commenting on other people’s blogs, especially if the blog is related is a great way to build quality backlinks and traffic. Don’t be tempted to try blog spam. If you use your URL in the URL field and write an insightful and / or helpful comment it’s much more likely to be approved by the blog owner.
Press Releases
Press releases can get picked up by many websites and will link back to your site. Be sure you write about something newsworthy, such as a product launch, major milestone, or re-design in order to make your press release newsworthy.
Forum Posting
Forum posting in a place that allows a signature can be a great way to get backlinks, which will help to speed up the SEO process. Every post on a forum can count as a link when your signature is present.
The SEO Process – Get Your Friends To Help
Ask online friends to help you with your SEO and return the favour. Maybe they’ll link to you in their blogroll or in one of their blog posts. Don’t be afraid to ask for a Digg, Stumble, or re-tweet as well. Consider adding bookmarking tools to your site to make it easier for friends to help you make an article or blog post go viral as well.
In terms of speeding up the SEO process, every little bit helps so work at it daily and you will begin to see progress. Keep marketing, keep creating valuable backlinks and continue regularly checking your website statistics so you can see which of your efforts is bearing the most fruit.

As you are a newbie, possibly the best advice I can give you is to be very weary of any offer that sounds too good to be true, as it almost always will be too good to be true. I would suggest you learn all you can about internet/affiliate marketing, blogging and social media…there is plenty of information available online to learn about it all. Once you have a site set up, it’s time to find a good product to promote and you can promote it via your blog and social media etc. Sorry I cannot be of more help William, but there is quite a lot to learn about online marketing.
And another thing to consider: If you don’t “expect” to get rich, you probably won’t. That’s the law of attraction

Well, I for one have never just waited for my blog to climb up the search engine ranks. Otherwise, I might be waiting a long time! I’d be better off watching paint dry! At least there’s a guarantee the paint will dry, even if you do nothing but wait!
It takes daily action in all the areas mentioned in this blog post to get SEO results. At least, SEO results that you can have a chance with relying on long-term. Yes, it does take some commitment. But so does any business. That’s if you treat your IM’ing as a business. Besides, SEO should only be one part of traffic generation strategy, IMHO. I would rather have a broad source of traffic, not just the search engines.

Again seven steps to speeding up the SEO process. I still find looking at something like this article in its entirety overwhelming. I know that all it takes is doing it all one step at a time and keep doing it and checking it and tweaking it and getting it right.
One day I hope to have things so well in place, organized and optimized that I can actually sit back and make a sensible decision about what to do next.
Right now there are at least 1,000 things to do next and I have to remind myself that if I really concentrate and do each well one at a time I will get there, hopefully before I get to the Pearly Gates.

I think we all want to speed up the SEO process. I’m doing some of the things you suggest but not all. Also, of the things I am doing, I feel I could probably be doing a better job of most of them.
As I’m going to launch a new blog soon, I’m going to do everything (except for the press release) that’s on this list. I’m looking forward to seeing the results.

I have followed a lot of what you teach for a while now but have hit a road block when it comes to progressing which i’m sure many have experienced – even yourself I imagine. I find it difficult to actually come up with new content to write about especially when I need to be getting my links out there from different SEO sources.
It feels harder when it’s an affiliate product I am trying to sell. I am never going to give up, and like you said earlier about LOA, I do see myself making it. But what I am trying to say is, how long would you test an affiliate product to see if it’s going to work before moving onto the next one?
That’s a hard question to answer Luke as your success selling affiliate products factors on many things. Is it a quality product? are you reaching the right audience? are you getting enough traffic? are you trying different marketing methods? If your answer is yes to all of these things and it still does not seem to be working, it may then be the right time to look at marketing something else.

Traffic is my number one problem – I cannot get much…even with PPC. I sometimess wonder how accurate keyword tools are – even Google’s. I know it’s not my ad copy because the impressions are not there either.
I still have a lot to learn which i’m doing every day. I am confident I will find my niche someday.

While I’m taking all this in, and don’t yet have anything to put it into practice, as yet, it has helped me to realise that the website (compiled by a ‘professional’) is lacking a lot. I have dabbled a little in HTML 4 and after viewing the source for the website, there are no meta keywords or meta description. This was evident when I did a google search and our business didn’t even rank in the first 10 pages.
I can also see where they should probably include a few links to help with their optimisation. It’s just a matter of if they are willing to listen. In the meantime, I’ll continue to read and take it all in.

Just reading Pete’s comment above has really surprised me as his site was set up by a professional and seems to be lacking good SEO? Good thing Pete is learning all about it.
I can always do with good information about what tactics to use to improve my SEO, and you have offered an abundance of them here as usual Sean. How will I remember all of this? bookmark it of course.
Many companies offer SEO as part of their website construction – but it rarely is very good a or updated regularly – and many have the cheek to charge premium prices!
It always pays to get a website or blog over which you have content control – then you can do things like SEO yourself.
More great advice that will eventually have me looking back and telling myself wasn’t it the one of the wisest steps you ever took to not just read the advice but act on it.
Here’s hoping that will be very soon.
Once you know what you need to do speeding up the seo process is fairly easy – like with everything that you know how to do
I found that articles make a big difference to the ranking, so I am very keen to get more out there.
Don’t forget to put a version of them into your blog or website or both – if there is a fit of course.
You make it look so easy and it probably is once I become familiar with all the concepts.
All this information is excellent for creating a check list of things to do every week as far as working on my blogs go. It is imperative that I optimise my site as much as I can for the search engines.
