SEO Success Formulas

Do you want a magic success formula for your search engine optimisation efforts? Sadly, SEO changes frequently enough that no formula will work wonders forever. Algorithms change regularly and Google’s SEO rules are different from Yahoo or MSN or AOL, etc. What is key is that quality content is essential and if you work with that in mind, you’ll outlast any SEO rule changes.

Content is King

If you get all the search engines to index your site as number one but there’s nothing high quality when your visitors arrive, they’ll just skim your site and move on to something else without subscribing, buying or getting to the bottom of the page. Forget your keyword density and keyword proximity and your silos of researched keywords and phrases because it really doesn’t matter if you don’t have copy that will sell.

Do Success Formulas Exist?

SEOSuccess and wealth will always come from quality and in internet marketing, you should also strive for quantity as well.

Here are three tips that can help you make smart search engine optimisation moves both on page and off so that your site will not only fare well in the search engines but will also convert visitors into buyers:

1) Keywords. Use logical words and phrases in your site. Use them in the titles, subheadings, toward the beginning and end of the page. Do make sure you fill in your meta descriptions as well. There are great SEO toolkits available to help you maximise SEO on your site.

2) Eye popping titles. Titles and lots of white space work best for online users. Break your text into small paragraphs instead of one long and continuous block of text. Look at the way this page that you are reading right now  is structured. You’ll see plenty of white space and headings to help your eyes quickly ascertain that there’s relevant info here. It’ll help catch eyes of visitors and help you with search engine relevancy as well.

3) Backlinks.  Get backlinks to your site. Visit blogs and forums and plug your site (without spamming of course) and do it on a regular basis so that you are continuously building relevancy on your site which can help you keep and improve your page rankings in the search engines.

In short, SEO trends can help you but while trends will come and go quality lasts forever and quality copy can convert more customers than SEO ever will.

Thanks for your post.. and your tips. I do local SEO and I truly believe the importance of content. Without content.. there is nothing. Readers are searching for information and we need to provide it for them. We could also sprinkle some keywords along the way. :)

I think, content is the heart of a blog article. You can use your desired keywords inside the content at appropriate places. Getting the backlinks is another important criteria. Thanks for the information.

Sean

Content absolutely rules. Too bad some so called SEO experts don’t appreciate that. The amount of sites I have seen that are stuffed with keywords is unbelievable

Hi Sean,

Great advice. I put a lot of effort into my content but I still work hard at the SEO side of it. I’m not sure how often SEO techniques change but maybe I should be focusing more on the quality content to get me new readers.

Content has to be the key, because as a consumer I want to find something of value when I visit a site. Pure sales pages when looking for content can be a big turn-off.

Some excellent tips. As you say, Content Is King, but it certainly helps your SEO success to use strategically placed keywords, professional looking formatting, and work at developing backlinks to your site.

One thing I always try to do is fill out the meta description and keywords tags. Some people claim that they are largely ignored now but it never hurts to provide information that may be used at some time by the search engine algorithms.

We have been taught to do that too Don. SEO strategies and keyword research applied properly are two of the integral components of a successful blog.

I will be concentrating on those two plus content as I know if I can get all of those working well, I will be off on the right foot in my career as an internet Marketer.

Point two is good info. I have been taking note of the titles of articles here just to see how this is applied and also to see how they are longtails too. Have gotten (!) some good ideas!

I need to hone up my use of this SEO-wise as a good tile and using sub headings can really help a reader, and this helps moi! Makes it all scannable too

All the information you give us comes together to give us as good a chance as possible to rank on a KW. Are there major updates to algorithims which are noticeable? Do they ever let you know when there has been a signficant change?

As you mention – content is king, if you manage to get them to bookmark your site, then you don’t need to rely on SERP to have that person back again.

Great tips here especially the three in the success formula which sound like it will work very well. Thank you

There are some good SEO success formulas here. I have only really heard about backlinks and not really sure about how to implement and maximise the use of them. It’s another thing I’ve added to my bookmarks to remind me about this.

I should also reinforce the second point that Sean’s made about having a good title and having some space around your words. People will get lost or lose interest when they have to wade through screeds of text.

As well as having space around words it’s important to get your message across in a reasonable amount of words. Here is something to use as a guide – If it’s not important to say it then it’s important not to say it.
