SEO Link BuildingWhen it comes to search engines, the algorithms are always going to try to retain an air of mystery. But SEO link building is one strategy found to work for almost every webmaster who puts the time and money into building links.

But while the actual methods of popular search engines like Google and Yahoo aren’t 100% transparent, there is a trend that these search engines are taking to reduce the ranking of sites that are using non-trusted backlinks.

But what is a backlink from a non-trusted site, and can you prevent your website from being listed by non-trusted sites? Also, how do you build up reputable backlinks that make the search engines realize your business website is full of valuable information that users need?

SEO Link Building On Trusted Sites

When webmasters realised that one way to increase search engine ranking was by having lots of sites link back to their site, they started submitting links all over the place. They also negotiated with different websites to have their links listed on their site. This actually works great since link building is considered the trump card of increasing web traffic. But the search engines have become privy to the tactics used by websites to improve search engine ranking, and now they want to weed out the sites that aren’t using trusted links when SEO link building.

A trusted site is one that isn’t full of advertisements and isn’t stagnant. It’s a site that provides content to users and doesn’t exist for the mere purpose of making money. When a blogger finds your website and links back to it from a blog post, that’s a trusted link.  In an attempt to get more backlinks, if you’ve worked out a deal with a website that carries nothing but Google ads and very little valuable content, that’s not going to get you very far.

As the search engines reevaluate their algorithms, they’re starting to figure out which backlinks are valid (in their eyes) and which aren’t. Sites with bad links and a bad reputation will be demoted in search engine results and could devalue your site.

Working To Get Trusted Links

SEO link building is time consuming. That’s why many webmasters prefer to let SEO professionals handle the link building while they focus on the business. If you’ve tried link building on your own, you may have your site listed with some websites that won’t be included as a trusted link in the future.

It’s best to let an SEO professional handle your link building so that all of your links come from trusted sources, which ultimately increase your web traffic.

Have a most outstanding day.

Google SEO is a mystery as you said. I agree with you that getting links from a trusted site would eventually help your site ranking.

For business starters, at least you need to run an awareness for sometime as webmasters will never link to you if your site has no PR even if the content is good.

New websites becomes a problem with latest updates in Google Search Engine.

Great article and thanks for sharing the information. As a website design company something we find customers overlook is setting up goals. Which provide vital data!

Good article Sean. For years we have always preached that Google / Yahoo prefer quality rather than quantity. This will hold true as the web changes, social media marketing explodes etc Tweaks to Google’s algorithm that we noticed last year were centered on stripping out weighting of low quality website links towards high quality/trusted websites. It’s a never ending battle for seo companies really.

Link building services are a solution when you don’t have time or possibility to create links to your page, or when you have many websites that need off-page optimization. So the advantage of using such services is that they will create many links to your websites and if done properly you will be positioned higher in search results. However, there are also some disadvantages in using link building services. You have no or little control over the off-page optimization process.

Sitting down and making a plan for your SEO is what needs to take place. There are too many spammers out there posting on any given site. This tactic may work for someone trying to rank for a low traffic keywords but not so well when it’s a high traffic keyword.

Link building is the main determinant of the success of a website and is often considered the greatest challenge of optimizing search engines.

Great advice Sean, especially since it is now becoming apparent that bad links can hurt you (before, many would say that if it were true, your competitor would be creating those bad links in order to hurt you). Having a look at one of our customers’ link profile, we saw that his previous SEO had created links in stagnant over spammed websites (more than 4.000 comments of the kind “thank you for this great post”)….links we would rather not have. I guess all we can do now is reverse the percentage of trusted vs non-trusted links to bring down any red flags.

This is a must for any website link building. You must choose your technique and link source with caution and make sure you know how trustworthy the website is. Also, make sure the links will kick in and how much juice they may hold for your websites rankings.
