You don’t have to be a professional videographer or even a professional internet marketer in order to create a YouTube video that increases your site’s page ranking or helps its SEO.
With so many tools available to put together a video, it might be easier than you think. Figuring out how to apply SEO For YouTube videos may be a little bit more difficult.
Take a look at these tips for ensuring your YouTube video receives a high site ranking and lots of views.
How YouTube Works
Why do you need to post a YouTube video? Simply put, it is because YouTube is extremely popular worldwide.
A clever or informational video posted on the site attracts a lot of viewers and they are likely to click on your website’s URL if they are interested in getting further information or taking a look at other content you’ve created.
YouTube works much the same as a typical search engine as far as listing results. Organic results are listed on the left, paid inclusion videos are listed on the right. In order for your video to achieve high organic ranking, you have to practice some good SEO For YouTube videos to become successful.
According to YouTube, the ranking of your video is determined by several components. These include the file name of the video, its title, and any meta tags you’ve added. Just as search engines index web pages, YouTube indexes videos.
SEO For YouTube
Here are some good tips on SEO For YouTube videos:
Start with the video’s title. Make is as descriptive as possible. Try to be different than videos with similar content in order to make yours stand out. Include as many keywords as you can.
Next, create a good description of the video. According to YouTube, this text should be “descriptive, accurate, and unique” and be well written, without any spelling or grammar mistakes. Remember that this is where you need to add relevant keywords, too.
Meta tags are an important part of optimizing your video. Just like the major search engines, YouTube cautions against keyword stuffing so be cautious in adding meta tags.
Now, take some further steps to ensure that your video is easily found. YouTube offer instructions on its site to embed the video in one of your website pages. Remember that search engine bots cannot “see” the video, so the text you use to describe and the tags you are are very important.
Spread the news of your video far and wide. Social bookmarking sites are great places to accomplish this. Don’t forget social networking venues such as Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, etc. Internet users love to watch video content so include a simple update to your page like “check out my video on how to pick the best widgets” along with the URL.
Consider writing a blog post about how you created the video, or offering advice for someone else to do the same, along with a link to its location and you could even embed your blog right onto your blog.
Follow up success with your first video by creating more. The larger number of videos you’ve posted to YouTube, the greater chances of attracting new visitors to your site. Online videos are fun to create, easy to post, and can be optimized to provide maximum benefit to your ecommerce website and your online reputation.
Have a most outstanding day.

It’s hard though thinking of new ideas for videos – for me anyway! And feeling comfortable in front of the camera is the other thing I need to get used to – stepping out of my comfort zone that is.
I have a flip camera – got it for Christmas off my bestest buddy. She bought it in The States – I was well impressed. She’s being supportive with me & my blog. She said I should make heaps of videos & post them on YouTube & my blog. Flip cameras are easy & upload onto your computer to use as well – the last thing I want is to spend time putting a video together. I was using Windows movie maker – poopy program!
Hi Sam
That’s great that you have been given a flip camera and ideal for someone like you who does stand up comedy gigs…. you can tape the audience laughing (lol).
I believe the beauty of the flip camers is that they upload quickly to Youtube. My question is are they only made for that purpose?
Well I didn’t know YouTube indexed the videos like a search engine.
Where does the search engines come into the equation or don’t they?
Many searches will show YouTube videos up there in the top 5 results. That’s where the search engines come into it
Hi Sean,
I have been thinking of ways to shoot some videos. How do I handle taking videos of public places that will probably have people in them? Is this okay to do?
Also, how do I add music to them? What are the copyright issues that I need to address?
Hi Sean
Thanks for the post! Is there any implications either way by linking to the youtube video or embedding it within your own site?
I’d also add the use of captions and links within the video to attract more traffic.
I am so looking forward to making my own videos!
I want to make some cartoons with great messages and I am working on some other projects that I will be able to video as well.
I think video is the most powerful media of all and I want to utilise that.
