Increasing the number of backlinks to your site is a great way to increase your SEO and get better indexing in the search engines. Beyond getting other people to link to you and going on a blog commenting spree, here are some other tips to help you get more links to your websites and blogs so that you can make more money online.
Blogs
Start a MySpace account and other free blog accounts and write regularly in those blogs to promote your self. Anchor your desired keywords to your sites and blogs in this blog. Google seems to love MySpace for indexing so creating links that point to your new website or blog from this social networking tool can be helpful. People also browse through their friends’ lists regularly so adding ‘friends’ on these sites can help you as well.
Article Directories
Submit to sites like Ezinearticles and create alternate pen names or even just resource boxes that can help you to get more links pointing to your online homes. Search engines take notice and so do people who might read your articles and visit your sites.
Online Communities
Post your site URL on forums in your auto signature and in your profiles on online sites as well such as Plurk, Twitter and others. People will visit and search engines will as well. If you post often on a community forum, every post could equate to a link to your website. Some prolific posters on high ranking online forums will even offer signature links for sale because it can equate to great SEO results.
Every Little Bit Helps!
In terms of SEO and online marketing, every little effort can help a little bit in getting you more traffic and making you more money!
Have a most outstanding day.

Hi Sean,
I do some of these things to generate backlinks but not all. I am part of a couple of great forums in my niche but I haven’t added a forum signature. I am part of some blogging communities but I don’t spend enough time socializing with other bloggers in my niche. I need to make some time in my routine for this.
So, there are a couple of things I could improve on and hopefully get a few more backlinks.
How often is it recommended to “socialize” on each community/forum etc? It can add up quite a bit, so I am not sure if I am better off to be on just one or two sites every day or choose more communities but visit each only 1-2 per week.
Any advise welcome …
Sean
With sites where you can post articles to like Myspace, how often should I post articles?
Like Renee an idea of how much time to spend in these communities would be a great help.
I’ve never used MySpace and have visited it very infrequently. But I’m thinking of a Grateful We’re Not Dead account to promote the charity and fund raising work we do. Most gigs we get are word of mouth or the result of a couple interviews last year on CBC Radio One. Some more links to our blog and web site might bring more chances to play.
I still haven’t managed to whip my self into a frenzy to turn out articles for article directories. However, from what I’ve seen of the quality some material on those sites over the last few days, I think there might be an article or three in my future. Not a clue yet as to what the subject will be.
I have a fairly active presence on Plurk, Twitter and sometimes on Identi.ca. I must admit I could be more active on Twitter than I am but maybe that’ll change once I read The Ultimate Twitter Guide.
So I guess I’ve got a lot more work to do. And that’s before I even consider making money. Maybe Internet Marketing will support my Grateful We’re Not Dead habit.
Hi Sean
I noticed that this article was written in 2008 and Myspace was mentioned as one of the online social communities to go to . Is Myspace still a popular site ? I just haven’t heard it mentioned for quite some time and not in the mountain of articles I have been reading through your websites the past 3 weeks.
I would prefer to allocate some time to social sites in the evenings when my days work is done and I can more or less work without strict time restraints.
Another one to go in the favourites…traffic seems to be the holy grail of online marketing and getting ranked seems to be the way to get traffic, and more links seem to be the way to get ranked…more links=more money
Have never even looked at My Space as an option but will certainly put it on my to do list at a later stage. Between Facebook and learning all about Twitter and getting lost in You Tube (just too addictive) I consider myself pretty much otherwise occupied at the moment. Churning out those articles for article directories is my next challenge.
Article submissions will serve you better than being too stretched out over too many social media apps. It will also give you content for your blogs and tweets.
Thanks for that information, it’s good to know personally how it has worked for you and you’re right about having that content as useful for blogs.
I assume that you should research the PR of where you are submiting to ensure that you are getting the best quality backlink as one PR2 backlink is much better than two PR1 backlinks.
There is so much background work which needs to be done for the submission of 1 post to ensure good SEO.
PR and site relevancy are both things to consider Jayne
Is it then better just to keep on submitting to the same article directory like Ezine which has a high PR…..or spreading it over several? My thoughts on asking this question is that do the extra links from Ezine count from the additional articles to the first one – or are the additional links just for traffic after you have submitted your first article?
