Hi Sean,
Great advice as always. How about submitting your site directly to the search engines? Or, submitting your sitemap to Google? Are these things you should do as soon as possible to help with getting indexed? Or, do you wait until you build up your blog for a while?
Jazz
You can do that. With my sites I didn’t with Goggle and it was found pretty rapidly. I did submit my sites to Yahoo as they tend to take longer. You can find out if the spiders are visiting your site by looking at the stats in your host cpanel. It will tell you when they last visited and which ones. I check mine quite often.

I have set my blog up in the main directories as you suggested. I have tended to not do enough commenting.
Thanks for this information.
It’s great to know how I can get my blog indexed fast. Athough there is still quite a bit of work to do I will take your advice and do it .
