Not everyone agrees with the idea of monetizing your blog, but if you are looking for a way to do it, you might want to consider whether you would like to get paid to blog.
Diluting the Idea of Blogs
Now hang on a minute. Surely that’s going to dilute the whole idea of writing about stuff in the first place? After all, most people write about a specific subject, and most of them like to be able to say whatever they like about it, without fear of offending anyone if their own opinions happen to be a little on the negative side. Not all products are great and wonderful and your readers aren’t going to believe you if your blog posts start sounding too wonderful for words.
While it’s true that if you get paid to blog you will be writing about certain products and services that their creators want to get publicity for, it doesn’t always follow that they need to be positive all the time. That’s why it’s worth checking out some of the sites that bring advertisers and bloggers together before dismissing the idea altogether, because not all sites demand that you are positive about what you are going to say.
Add Another Income Stream
Besides, if you want to make some money from your blogging and add another stream of income to your internet marketing efforts, everything is worth considering, and you might just end up finding a website that can help you get paid to blog every time you decide to add a new post.
Not everyone agrees with this method of making money, but if you are happy to give it a go then why not try it? It could work well for you depending on the subject of your blog, and it would be nice to get paid to blog instead of writing for nothing, wouldn’t it?

Hi Sean,
I guess that if I wanted to get paid for blogging about certain products and services I would really only want to do it for the ones that I really loved. I would prefer that they were ones I personally used and felt happy to endorse.
Then again, if a company wanted a genuine review of the product, whether it was positive or negative, I would be willing to consider it. It would just depend on the situation.
Sean
I would be willing to look at this. Could be quite interesting.
Getting paid to blog is an excellent idea especially if you like to write. It’s always nice to have another source of income.
However, if you already have a blog with regular readers that is not monetised do not all of a sudden change the direction of that blog to try to generate an income. If you do you likely find out that you have annoyed your regular readers.
The best approach is to start a totally new blog that is monetised from the start. Write an article promoting your new blog in the original blog and if your readers like you well enough you may find them frequenting the monetised blog as well. They could actually become your first customers.
Just my 2 cents.
I agree Don – and with linking, you can always refer folk to the new blog without it being over-sell or out of context of your theme etc.
The idea of being paid to blog sounds great to me – and people do like reviews of products and services – as it adds information for them to consider before they purchase.
It also can establish a reputuation for honesty and credibility – which ain’t too bad to have.
The next question is how do you find companies that want you to blog for them?
Anyway to be able to make money with integrity is fine with me! Being able to be honest would be a number criteria – so mentioning that it would be ok to have positive and negative reviews is a good point.
