Benefits of Trading Links In The Blogosphere

trading linksA blog is only as good as the traffic it gets. Trading links with other bloggers in your niche is a good idea. Even those in competition with one another will often share one another’s links, especially in the blogosphere. Many people blogroll others as well as do guest posts, post blog comments or create a links page. This can be great as it can help you build your search engine rankings because it is like getting into a clique where every one involved gets to be a bit popular.

Finding Blogs in Your Niche

If you want to find people to trade links with and you’re a blogger, check out other blogs in your niche. Have a look at tools such as MyBlogLog and Blog Catalog which can help you find blogs to check out. You can find plenty of blogs with similar tags and join their neighbourhood. By doing so, you’re also increasing your own profile. Comment on other blogs and link back to your own blog (without spamming, of course) and join blog neighborhoods through the Blog Catalog and MyBlogLog tools. By doing this, you’ll also get interest from other people interested in your subject matter

Link Love

If you give other some link love on your blog by posting a link to their blog, they will often return the favour. They might write a post featuring something you wrote and they might put you on their blogroll. The blogosphere is a vast place but within specific niches is actually quite a tight knit group and when people like what they see and think they’ll get something out of your blog (whether it’s link love reciprocation or valuable information) they’ll probably visit often.

Have a most outstanding day.

The Online world becomes more and more like the “real” world. You support each other because at the end all of us win. Leaving comments is a great way to show appreciation and visiting other blogs in my niche helps me to improve my knowledge. I will do that even more from now on. Tks.

Hi Sean,

Backlinks are so important to a blog’s success and trying to get them is a constant struggle. I feel like I’m still trying to build relationships with other bloggers and build my site up.

I want to get to the point where if I write a post with a link to someone’s site, it will be of some value to them. I don’t think I’m there yet. So, for now, I’m just doing the basics to get backlinks. :)

One piece of advice I would have for you Jazz, is to include your website URL when you are blog commenting ;-)

Thanks Sean

I didn’t really appreciate the value of the blog directories. I will be getting stuck into this.

Really excellent tips. There is so many resources out there, it is mind boggling.

In the past I have exchanged links with other reciprocating bloggers. Trading links is an easy way to build up incoming links. And I have no problem giving some link love on my blogs as well.

I had forgotten that I had accounts on MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog. Now that I’ve “found” them again I’ll have to remember use them to locate related blogs in whatever niches I decide to pursue.

Hmmm, another little entry in my Learn And Earn notebook.

Hi Don,
I am glad I am not the only one who forgets, I have also “found again” accounts and am now using them more

I joined those last week – and have yet to go back – I hope that they don’t get lost!

Hi Sean

I love the names people come up with ‘blogosphere’!

I am so looking forward to developing my niche and visiting MyBlogLog and Blog Catalog where I can research and find other people who have similar niches.

I feel like I am a new explorer in a foreign land. I can even create linklove and have it reciprocated. That’s it, I am away to holiday in the blogosphere (lol)

All jokes aside, this is once again very valuable information thakyou Sean.

Hi Elly,
I think we are explorers in a new land, we even have the danger of becoming “lost” when we find something that takes our interest. :-)

You know a good place to start trading links would be among ourselves don’t you think?

Although we might all be into affiliate marketing, I don’t think we will end up pinching traffic etc as it is such a big market out there.

I will be happy to start the ball rolling if anyone wants to give me their URLs (blogs, websites).
I would also welcome comments, although I have turned that function off at the moment because of spam – can’t seem to get the ahkismet thingo operating!

Just from these articles I’ve seen some potential backlink love that I can and will be sharing and am happy to know that the community of bloggers is reciprocal in that way- pay it forward!

Building a community with each other and people we are yet to meet is such a great idea. I really like the idea of working with other people who have the same interests and not seeing them as competitors. Thankyou for the links to the blog sites.
