free advertisingAre you writing articles for free e-zine sites yet? If not, you should! Not only can you use these articles to make money via article marketing  promoting affiliate products but you can also build up your site’s off page search engine optimization. This is a great tool for self promotion and it’s free!  All online marketers should be using this form of free advertising.

These articles don’t earn you direct income but can indirectly pay you in a big way.  Not only will the article have the potential of going viral if it gets picked up by other webmasters who will publish on their site and point back to your site as well but people may buy your wares as a result of reading a good, convincing article.

Here are some tips for writing a great free article

-Catchy title! Grab a reader’s attention. The article isn’t likely to sit on the home page for long with a busy, high ranking article directory so grab the reader’s attention when they arrive on the site.

-Write with SEO in mind.  Search for target keywords and include them in your title and your bio box.  Anchor the keyword in the bio box and point it back to your site.  The landing page and a deep link can be great for your SEO and the article will likely rank in search engines as well.

-Follow the rules of the site to get your articles approved quickly.  Note the terms of service and editorial guidelines so you can get the article approved without much of a lag and without rework required.

-Don’t forget a call to action! Even though these articles are written mainly for search engines you can attract buyers with them so do use your bio box as a chance to grab human readers as well as search engine robots, too.

Have a most outstanding day.

Hi Sean,

I frown every time I see you say I need a catchy title to grab the reader’s attention. I’m working on getting better at writing eye-catching headlines but it’s a work in progress. :)

I think my writing is okay; I’m just really boring. :)

I am still struggling to get all that writing done – posts, articles, comments …. I was amazed the other day that pros do write 5 to 10 posts in one day. Hm. Still a lot of practice for me to do before I have that kind of speed.

You and me both Renee.
Last week I took a look at a person to write some blogs for me, I had tried to have a couple of guest writers but, I had to just about rewrite the post, so I won’t try that one again for a while

Hi Renee,

Seriously, they write 5 to 10 posts in one day. I’d struggle to do that in one week. It seems like I’ve got a long way to go before I get to their level.

I’ve started outsourcing – I found a fabulous American lady on ELance and I figured that what I was paying her compared to how long it took for me to write an article was silly and non-productive.

I am avery happy that I made this decision as her work is great (My commentluv though at the moment is not something she has written.

I do go through it with a microscope to ensure KW’s are in there properly and to get my KW’s for linking in – and also to ensure LSI, but most of it has done which is great!

Writing, writing, writing! Wow! It’s a good thing I like to write and my typing is at 65wpm. Looks like I’m going to be doing a lot of it.

Hi Sean

How do you anchor your keyword in the bio box? I will have to google that one.

So writing articles for Ezine is the way to go? It will certainly be a way to start improving as the more you write and read other people’s writing the better you will become.

We are always more critical of others writing and we can learn so much by becoming an avid reader. We can see what works or doesn’t in other people’s writing and we seem to notice bad writing more than good writing. Knowing what doesn’t work well in writing will teach us to avoid such poor quality.

I am not going to try ezine again till I am a lot better at expressing myself its too demoralizing to keep getting told they are not good enough.

So when I do try again, I will know that it will be accepted and we will all celebrate.

It may not be the quality that is the issue Rita, it may just be that the articles are not formatted as per the terms and conditions. Have a good look at these, and don’t give up.

Many times on his blogs Sean has stressed article marketing to get better SEO and more sales. I think it’s about time that I started paying attention and gave a bit more thought to article marketing. However, I can’t see me cranking out 5 to 10 articles per day ans Renee mentioned in his comment. I have trouble getting one or two things written per day.

5-10 articles a day is probably best left to people who use article marketing as their sole strategy. No matter how many articles you publish, they will be beneficial for you ;-)

I am gearing up for article marketing so have enjoyed reading this post. Article marketing seems to be dominating the ‘secret SEO chatter’ :-) I do a combination of outsorucing and my own writing which is working well for to accumulate the articles.
