All In One SEO WordPress PluginAre you aware that when you own a hosted WordPress blog, you have access to the All in One SEO Pack plugin? While this plugin is not available for a free WordPress account, surely you already realise the benefits of having a self hosted site – and additions like the SEO pack is just one of those advantages.

Take a look at how installing the All In One SEO Pack WordPress  plugin can help your internet marketing and SEO efforts.

What All In One SEO Pack Does

There is a whole list of features for the All In One SEO Pack at the WordPress website. Some of the benefits include:

Canonical URLs – allows for the best URL format, i.e. www.sample.com versus sample.com or sample.com/blogpostname.php. Also optimises titles of posts automatically.

Cross functionality with other plugins and a variety of WordPress themes; also provides backward compatibility.

Page navigation links are fine tuned.

SEO integration for an e-commerce site.

Automatic generation of meta tags based on content; these can also be overwritten if you wish to change them.

Why You Need It

Effective IM relies on good SEO and that is what this plugin provides. It allows superior control over titles, meta descriptions, and meta tags – all of the most important factors when optimising a blog to be indexed by the major search engines.

These capabilities extend to the home page as well as each post. For instance, you can add your main keywords to the home page title and description in order to maximise it while using different keywords on individual posts to drive unique traffic.

Post titles are very important, too, and the All In One SEO Pack plugin allows you to change the title from the default, which uses every word, to a more search engine friendly title that is better optimised for crawlers. You can also get rid of those pesky punctuation marks that tend to cause problems in various browsers.

With the All In One SEO Pack, you gain control of how your blog’s pages are indexed. And for an e-commerce site, you get additional SEO benefit that drives traffic.

How To Install The All In One SEO Pack WordPress Plugin

Installation is very easy, as this plug-in comes with an auto installation feature. You can also choose to install it manually. For manual installation, upload the files via FTP to your server and drop them into the wp-content/plugins directory folder at the top level (not wp-content/plugins/). No matter which method you choose, be sure to back up your directory files first in case something goes wrong that results in corruption of these files.

Once the files are uploaded, you can activate All In One SEO Pack from the WordPress Plugins menu option. Once it is activated, you can select various options from the settings page and then enable it. If you are a beginning user of WordPress, you can simply opt to keep the defaults in place but if you are an advanced user, you will probably want to tweak various options.

There is really no reason not to install the All In One SEO Pack WordPress plugin. It offers many advantages that enhance IM efforts for your e-commerce business.

Have a most outstanding day.

Hi Sean,

I use the All in One SEO Pack WordPress Plugin and find it very effective. It might be time for me to take a look at the options to see if I can make better use of it.

Also, the latest version of WordPress allows you to add the All in One SEO WordPress Plugin to your self hosted blog via the plugin page. What is the difference between adding a new plugin that way and adding it via FTP? Which is better?

Hi Jazz,

It is essentially the same thing. I just install it via the plugin screen – its quick and easy :)

Either way is fine Jazz.

I was advised that I didn’t need All In One SEO plugin when I use Thesis theme. I hope this was good advice.

That’s right Wal. I use the Thesis Theme too and the inbuilt SEO functionality is basically the same as the All in One SEO Pack. You should not use both as that may actually be detrimental to your blog and the way that the Search Engines index your site.

Unless Sean has a better understanding…

Yes, it was good advice. Running Thesis and all in one at the same time will clash.

I am still in the process of setting up my first self hosted blog, but I sure will use the All In One SEO plugin. Whatever helps me to optimize SEO on my blog is more than welcome.

I am a bit confused so by where to put the files to. You write “drop them into the wp-content/plugins directory folder at the top level (not wp-content/plugins/)” Are there two similar folders? I hope it gets clearer once I sit in front of my self hosted blog …

I have the All In One SEO plugin on my WordPress blog and I installed it via the dashboard. Hope I’ve installed it correctly to gain the best advantage from it. Until now I hadn’t been aware of the overall benefits that the All In One SEO plugin provided or that it gives an advantage to be indexed by the major search engines.

Hi Sean

I wanted to ask how do I know if I have a theme that is already optimised for SEO so to avoid adding an SEO plugin and that being detramental to my ranking? Is there a list of those themes already with SEO or where would I look in wordpress?

Reply

Most of the standard WordPress themes won’t have SEO options Benji. If your theme does have options for SEO, you will find them in somewhere in the theme options within the WordPress dashboard. If they do have these options, it’s generally best not to use an SEO plugin, if they don’t, go the all in one SEO pack ;-)

Hi Sean,
The WordPress site has many features listed on the, All In One SEO Plugin. I feel very lucky to have it installed on my blog. With so many functions and the benefits it provides it’s amazing that it is so simple to install.

I am pleased I have a WordPress self hosted blog as it does make blogging so much easier to get started and especially if you’re not a tech person, as I am not. I do appreciate the simplicity. Thank-you, Sean :)

I already have the all in one seo pack plugin installed and sometimes when I am surfing around the net looking for my posts I see what I have written in the plugin description around on different sites so it definately works.

Hi Sean

I never realised that the ‘All In One SEO Pack WordPress Plugin’ was such a benefit and so important to have.

I am going to have a look at my blog because I don’t think I have it and if that is the case I will be able to install it using your instructions. Thank you

I love this plug-in and have used it on some other sites I have set up. Having some backend things done for you makes it easier and less confusing for sure!

I have the Thesis theme now for my new blogs – do I still need All In One SEO Pack?

You won’t need any SEO plugins if you are using Thesis ;-)

Hi Guys,

I have been using the all in one plug-in alongside another seo plug-in called Headspace which was rated very well so i had both of them working on my site for the last 3 weeks since i launched my site. What exactly is the problem with having more than 1 seo plug-in would this have had a negative result on my search results for the last 3 weeks.

After reading this post i have now deleted the Headspace seo plug-in as everybody seems to swear by it. If you have any helpful articles explaining the problem that would be great.

many thanks in advance

Andrew

Hi Andrew, the main problem with having 2 or more SEO plugins, is that they will create 2 or more sets of meta-data and will conflict with each other. Stick to using one only ;)

My opinion is that either All In One SEO or Headspace2 will do the job Andrew, they are both great plugins and do very similar things. I noticed you have deleted Headspace2 and mentioned decreasing stats… I would recommend you check to see if you still have meta details appearing on your pages. If you included meta details within Headspace when posting the articles, they may very well now be lost. It just depends on whether or not you were filling in meta details within both plugins you had activated originally. Also check that you have your meta information set up within All In One now that you are using it only ;)

Help! I,m a newbie trying to set up my blog site. I believe I did something wrong and it isn’t doing anything. Also I am getting a red bar across the top of my admin. page and can’t get rid of it. It just sends me to the upgrade page of All in One SEO and I can’t seem to fix or get help. Can anyone talk me through this. At time point I don’t know if I have it downloaded once, twice or not at all.

I’ve been using Headspace for a while now, it seems to be working better than All in one SEO, but again, both are essentially the same.

Like Beckilou, I have a thick bright red bar across all by editing pages since getting the all in one SEO. I am using a Weaver theme on WordPress. I seemed to have done everything all right since I am able to use it, but I’d really like to get red of the red bar. Any suggestions?

The Eaver Theme and All in one Seo creates duplicate meta description and keywords! :(

Judy, go to the Admin page and select the bubble to “enable” the plugin. I missed this at first too, but once you select to enable rather than disable and update options, the bright red bar will disappear.
