diggWell, there certainly has been a lot of excitement around here this weekend with the posts about digging a grave and popular Digg stories being buried.  Since we’re talking about social marketing, let’s look at some other social marketing sites you can use to bookmark and be bookmarked.

7 Great Social Bookmarking Options

  1. Reddit
  2. Mixx
  3. StumbleUpon
  4. Diigo
  5. Yahoo Buzz
  6. Del.icio.us
  7. Simpy

Not all sites will work well for everyone but mixing up your social bookmarking strategy is smart. A lot of people have their favourites and that’s often because they socialise and get to know members on the site. A user’s experience definitely makes a difference on how often someone spends time. If you just use a site to submit your own stuff, you might not get much out of it so:

  • make some friends by remarking on existing submissions
  • do some social bookmarking for those friends

Social media isn’t the only strategy for getting attention online but as you can see by the many services available, it is definitely a worthwhile strategy! My strategy is to use a service

Have a most outstanding day.

There’s a few there that I haven’t used yet. I have to try them out and then decide which one’s are the best fit.

Would you prefer these over Digg?

Each service has it’s benefits and there are loads and loads of bookmarking sites online. Best to use start using some of them and stick to the ones you enjoy.

Hi Sean,

I’m with Gee. I don’t use most of these and I’m going to have to try them out to see which ones I like the best. :)

Hi Sean,
There are widgets that have multiple social bookmark options in them – is there any reason not to use this and instead put on the widgets separately? is it better to have the icons large and in the “recognizable” form?

Since writing this article, there are now loads more plugins with multiple options David, take a look at sociofluid and sexybookmarks for example.
