I am just starting to build my network and have been actively supporting people who have joined. I am hoping that as I build reputation with the communities I have joined that my efforts will be reflected. I have signed up to friendfeed but have yet to work it out properly which will be a task for the very near future!

I like the idea of using FriendFeed to keep track of what your friends are doing online and then giving them a Digg, Stumble or whatever to help promote them. You may find that a simple gesture such as this generates return link-love in spades.

Investing a little bit of time in promoting a friends efforts can lead to a significant return for the amount of time invested.

The way to make good friendships is to build trust. That is the most important thing whether in business or not. You have to earn trust by showing respect, commitment (ie doing what you say you will do and not letting people down), sharing, speaking up, and telling the truth.

Building friendships is the absolute basis of building a business. If someone cannot trust you, then they will not do business with you.

These ideas are great. I have only thought about commentating on a few friends blogs and the odd one in my niche.
I will be looking around for a few more to comment on and make a more consistent effort.

Going out there and being active outside ones one website or blog is important. I learn from others, I can support them with my comments and actions and I get recognized. And what goes around comes around.
