A lot of socializing sites might seem like a waste of time to new internet marketers at first glance but if you can make online friends and get noticed, you could see a big impact. Many internet marketers consider them a goldmine! Don’t underestimate the power of socialising online and how many new customers it can bring you. A lot of internet marketers make a whole lot of money through social networking both directly and indirectly. Sites like MySpace, Facebook, or Yuwie could do various things for you including:
- Get you followers who’ll visit your links
- Give you back links to your website
- Help you build your online reputation
- Make you some money through advertising and shared revenue
How do you choose the right social networking / socialising site to spend your efforts wisely?
There’s no magical success formula and it largely depends on your what your niche is and your demographic is as well. Some people have great luck in online community forums and others find that creating groups on MySpace and fan pages on Facebook are most effective for them.
Look at the various social sites to try to see if their main audience matches your target and look at various things including their member count, advertising rates, policy about self-serving links, features and benefits and then consider spending thirty minutes a day on that site to see what benefits it brings you. You’ll quickly be able to see whether it’s worth continuing or not. Web 2.0 is definitely here to stay and one of the major reasons internet marketers an make so much money.

Hi Sean,
I’m still working on getting better at using the various social media sites. I really need to work on my online socializing skills. For now though, I use Google Analytics to see where I’m getting my traffic from. These are the sites where I spend most of my time.
I am still deciding what sites I should be a member of. Facebook is definitely in the mix and proving to be a valuable resource.
Now this is a post with great foresight! Advertising and having a presence on Social Networking Sites has been getting stronger and stronger.
Hi Sean,
I added MySpace account to the TweetDest today. It made a lot of difference. Within hours I had received an email from a new person. The site has been dormant for months but not today. I hadn’t noticed before that there are many Aussies on MySpace. I like this very much and will give this site my attention in the near future.
Well we are Aussie Internet Marketers!
