writer's blockIf you need to write content for your blog or a site that promotes your affiliate products, it can be frustrating when you are faced with writer’s block. Don’t despair, help is here! There are a lot of things you can do to free yourself of a block so you can keep fresh content on your sites and get people visiting as well as search engines too!

Stumble Around Cyberspace

Cyberspace has a lot to see and do and visiting websites can inspire you. Stumbleupon.com is not just a great tool for self-promotion but it can offer you great inspiration as well. It presents you with sites based on categories you’re interested in so be sure you’re signed up to stumble through sites in your own niche.

Visit Your Mentors

Hopefully you are inspired by a successful online entrepreneur (hint, hint) and if so, stop by their blogs and read their material. Chances are, you could feel inspired to write your own stuff.

Good Ole Google

Google News, Google Trends, Google Blogs, etc, etc, etc…Surf Google’s many areas until you feel inspired so you can write. If all else fails, watch TV or take a walk and clear your head and chances are that when you come back, you’ll have ideas.

Have a most outstanding day.

Hi Sean,

I’m only new to blogging so I have lots of topics that I want to write about. My problem is trying to get them in some kind of order that the reader will understand.

One of my other problems is that I can find it difficult to get the right keywords. Sometimes, trying to find keywords without heavy competition can take a while. But, I’m thinking that quality content will be beat perfect ‘gold nugget’ keywords?

Its weird, sometimes I have the topic and all looks good, and then I don’t know how to put it onto paper. Looking what others have written does help :)

Hi Sean

I appreciate this article as I think that when writing constantly, writers block may very well happen!

I am an avid reader so I think this helps with having a bank of content ready to jump out and be expressed.

I find keeping an indexed notebook with me at all times helps. I will think of something or read something and then I think “that will make good subject matter” and I will write only a few words in my book eg under ‘W’ writers block – breaking through, or under ‘P’ passion – finding yours.

This works really well for me, maybe it will help others.

Hi Elly,

That’s a great idea. I’m going to have to start keeping a notebook of ideas. I really hate it when I think of a great idea and something happens and I forget what it was.

Sometimes I find it a real challenge getting inspired for content writing. Maybe it’s just an age thing or the fact that I wrote hundreds of thousands of words over my career and now the “well of words” just takes a little more time to refill. :)

Nowadays, the goldmine of topics available at the click of a mouse and the inspirational assistance of “you know who” can readily speed up the refilling of my “well of words” and I find I can usually come up with something to write much more quickly.

See I just did it again. And nobody said anything about quality. :)

Thankyou Sean for providing some great ideas to get out of the rut and get the mind juices flowing again to be able to write.

I find I have days where it just won’t stop and I can’t type fast enough – through to days where the fingers just stay paused above the keyboard, agonising about sentence structure, LSI and an idea!
