Profitable PPC CampaignA pay-per-click advertising campaign is only effective if you achieve some minimal amount of ROI. It makes no sense to spend your online marketing budget on a PPC campaign if it is not directly resulting in increased sales.

So how can you ensure that this type of marketing effort is going to achieve maximum benefit? Take a look at the elements and techniques that go into creating a Profitable PPC Campaign.

The Basics Of A Profitable PPC Campaign

Where do you start building a Profitable PPC Campaign? With the basics, of course.

First, define your niche in the market. Then determine the specific demographics of your target market. Now the idea is to find the most relevant keywords designed to appeal to this target market and create an ad that will make them most likely to click through. Then, design a landing page (or several) that specifically addresses the needs o your potential customers and offer products or services relevant to this need.

This may sound like a simple proposition, but determining the right niche, the perfect customer and why they want to buy your offerings, the best keywords, the most effective ad, and relevant landing pages are all tasks that require you to do a fair amount of research. It does takes some work, but your PPC campaign will benefit tremendously.

Finding The Right Keywords

Start with a simple listing of the products or services offered on your site. Remember to include terms like brands, models, and variations on the name of the items.

Next, input these keywords and phrases into an online tool such as Yahoo’s Keyword Selector or Google Adwords. This will tell you how much competition there is for each of your selections. With Google, you also get a suggested bid price. You may not be able to afford the most popular search terms. Remember that narrowing down your niche market will help you to focus on those keywords that will produce the greatest benefit in your advertising.

You can always do a regular Google search with the key phrases you’ve identified. Click on “sponsored links” until you get to the end of the list; this will bring up the current paid listings and allow you to determine how many of your competitors are bidding on the same keywords.

Lots of competition + high popularity = most expensive keywords. Of course, these are also the keywords most likely to give you positive results. Focusing on terms that no one is searching for is unlikely to increase your sales. If your online advertising budget is limited, try focusing on a handful of competitive keywords at a time.

The Best Placement Of Your Ads

Another thing you need to consider is your Pay Per Click ads placement. It is important to understand that if you want to target such places as Gmail, you must opt into placement across the entire Google content network. You have a choice between “relevant pages only on the placements target” or “relevant pages across the network”. Of course, you will get greater reach if you select the entire network, but then you have no control of when and where your ads appear.

It is probably best to determine placement based on what you’ve discovered regarding your target market. Where are they more likely to visit – and find your ad? Sometimes smaller directory listings might better serve your purpose to reach the visitors most likely to convert to customers.

A Pay Per Click campaign can be an expensive proposition. But if you do it right, test and refine regularly, and optimise your site organically as well, you can enjoy a real boost to your earning potential by building a Profitable PPC Campaign.

Have a most outstanding day.

Great post Sean, I haven’t really used PPC as effective as I could be, I do use it, but theirs always a way to strengthen it. Very useful post, one thing that is important is the placement of your ads, this determines who your target market is, and choosing the right keywords, which is the most important part of your campaign.

Hi Sean,

Again, this is excellent advice. It will really help when I’m ready to start my PPC campaign. I’m going to have to work out a schedule for all the new things I want to try in addition to keeping up with my current activities.

Hi Sean

Excellent article, you really know your stuff. I feel at this stage that this is an advanced technique and not one I have considered although I have been wondering what it means.

As you say in your post, alot more research needs to be done when implementing PPC and I can defintely see the benefits of using this method.

Thankyou
Blessings
Elly

Hi Sean,
I did try PPC way too early and it was defiantly not a Profitable PPC Campaign, because the person “showing me” told me I had to do it that way.
Now I know better and I will now leave it till I am ready to take that step, which won’t be for a little while yet.
