With a huge electronic commerce-driven world out there, there are some great opportunities to make money online, by advertising for others.
Many companies will pay people for advertising on their website or blog and if people actually buy from you, you could earn even more money.
Have a look at some of the options available to make money advertising online..
Website Advertising
If you own a website that gets traffic, others may be interested in capitalising on that traffic through banner ads or text link ads. Pricing can range from a bit of money as a flat fee or could include a rate of pay on a per-period basis.
Quite often, advertisers will look for well-ranking sites in a specific niche and approach site owners. You may want to put an advertising contact form on your website and list your pricing details, or come up with a price sheet if someone inquires.
Cost Per Action Programs
You can sign up for a number of Cost Per Action (CPA) programs that will pay based on activities that happen on your site. Links and / or banners could be displayed and based on the action of your visitor, you could earn a commission.
That amount could equate to a price per 1000 impressions or could equate to a percentage of sales that occur when one of your visitors clicks one of those links on your page. If you are looking to make money advertising online, this is a great option to consider.
Cost Per Impression Programs
Cost per impression programs tend to pay strictly based on traffic levels. They often pay less than a CPA program but if you have high traffic levels and multiple methods of website or blog monetization could be profitable.
Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing programs are one of the best ways to make money from a monetized website. Companies sign up virtual sales people that simply facilitate transactions. Your site attracts traffic interested in a product and you present links to a buy page.
You may use a landing page with sales copy, informative articles, or attract people to sign up for an offer. Your sales code is embedded in transactions, resulting in your earning a commission for sales that occur.
There are dozens of ways to make money advertising online from your website or blog. Many online marketers create a winning formula and then set up site after site to participate in programs. It can be very lucrative if you learn the secrets to success. You’ll find many resources and mentors willing to help you learn!
As you begin to learn internet marketing you’ll also find a lot of available opportunities as well as available courses and programs that are designed to teach you how to market effectively to others.

For many that are just starting out online it may be difficult to make money online using website advertising or CPI, simply due to not having the authority or traffic there.
Affiliate Marketing is great and everybody should give it a go. There is almost an affiliate product for anything that you can think of. You can even combine the different options together to maximize the opportunity to capture the revenue.
Hi Cemil
I agree with you here totally.
There is no doubting the potential in making money advertising online, but that potential can only be realised if you are getting the traffic.
Good comment
Geoff
Cemil and Geoff,
Some great advice and so true. Affiliate Marketing is definitely the way to get started, then the other strategies come into play.

Knowing how to make money advertising online is a great opportunity worth learning about. I’m going to learn these secrets to success, put them into practice and then tweak them until I get results.
Hi Sean,
As Cemil states to make money advertising online would appear to be quite difficult for beginners. I would expect less traffic during the early times.
Hi Sean,
I am always a little surprised by the amount of ways to make money online. There are so many different ways that if you try them all, you’re bound to find one that works.
For now, I’m just going to stick to advertising affiliate products on my site. I don’t have the traffic for any advertisers to be interested yet, but one day I will. I’ll explore that avenue then.
Hello Sean
Last year I was involved in a competition to sell an affiliate product online after only very basic instruction on how to do so. (No prizes for guessing whose instruction I followed)
And guess what ? After sticking with my blog I managed to sell one item. Boy was I surprised!
So this is just to encourage everyone, be guided by Sean and good luck with your affiliate selling.
Hi Sean,
There are certainly a lot of options to Make Money Advertising Online.
Website Advertising and Affiliate Marketing are certainly ideal places to start, especially if you have a relatively new site. I personally use both these methods myself.
Cost per Action and Cost per Impression sounds great if you have higher traffic level, but its an area I’m keen to learn more about, that’s for sure.
Another good comment Cade,
Traffic is what this is all about for sure.
And like you, I’m keen as, to learn some more.
Geoff
There are so many ways to make money online that it is really just a matter of personal preference. Any business needs to advertise to stay in business so if your website has a lot of traffic it would make sense to want to advertise there and pay more for the priviledge.
Affiliate marketing is really such a great tool. I had no idea what it was only a month ago and am now delving into the world of affiliate marketing head first. I started off just looking through places such as clickbank. But have now found that the options are really unlimited. Most things you can think of you just google affiliate program for the product you are interested in!
Sean,
This great blog making money online, certainly does give a range of options for every budding Internet Marketer.
I am one fo them and have tried a few. Can’t wait until I build up to be an Advanced Internet Marketer.

We’re seeing that even with affiliate marketing getting the traffic is what is key! we’re trying to move away from a program that locks you in to a web pg that is pre-fabricated and you drop content in and follow along the lines of Sean’s sage wisdom and use blogs, which is easier for my wee brain and making changes is far far less daunting! Sticking with Adwords til I build the reputation!
I agree, there are dozen of ways to make money advertising on line from your blog/website.
I personally prefer Affiliate Marketing Programs to start with, then after getting really good at this I would look at other options.
CPA is one of those things that I have put on the backburner – but it is time to bring it back to the boil I think. It sounds like some good passive income!
Hi Sean,
I’ll first be concentrating on Affiliate Marketing to make money online. When I’m receiving enough traffic that people want to advertise on the site then this can probably be beneficial as well.
Beneficial by receiving a fee for banners and also that the banners will bringing extra traffic to the site. If so then they may buy my products while there.
The main thrust of Internet Marketing is to make money advertising online.
I know very little about Cost Per Action and Cost Per Impression programs so that will have to be a whole new area of research.
I’ve engaged in a bit of affiliate marketing with the most success being during Sean Rasmussen’s “For A Few Dollars More ” Learn and Earn competition.
As far as website advertising, I wonder if I could Grateful Dead to buy space on the Grateful We’re Not Dead website?
Send them an email with your advertising prices Don, you never know
I currently have in my site 3 of those suggestions which I am happy about! The one of cost per impressions is missing – do you need to have good traffic before you can get accepted into a program?
Not generally Jayne, but all programs will have different methods of approval. There’s really only one way to find out if you will be approved or not
I prefer affiliate marketing first as if you pick a top product, you can then have the experience of Keyword research, SEO, getting links etc in order to learn how to get that site ranking high.
