How To Use Banner AdsAchieving online success with banner ads relies on more than just creating one. Certainly you have developed one that is eye-catching and contains a compelling message, but getting the greatest benefit also depends on how you use it and where you put it.

Review these tips on how to use banner ads to help you gain maximum mileage out of a single ad.

Banner Ads On Your Own Website

This is a very simple concept but one that many internet marketers forget about when determining placement of their banner ads. Why not use it on your own site’s home page? It should link to the same landing page as your PPC campaign, or you could even create a special page aimed just at the visitors – or subscribers who click that link.

Consider placing the banner ad on your blog, too, particularly if this site is separate from your main URL. This will drive traffic from your blog to your product pages and convert visitors into customers.

Banner Ads On Other People’s Websites

Just like you may already trade URL links with online friends and associates, so can you trade banner ads. Determine which websites are most relevant to your ad – it is unlikely to do your business any good to place a banner advertising low-priced mp3 players on a blog that features old-fashioned sweets for sale, for instance but it would be very appropriate on a tech-related blog.

Then there are affiliates. If you have an affiliate marketing program set up for the products or services offered on your website, be sure to share the banner with your partners.

Think of everyone involved in your business as a partner. Don’t forget the company that processes your credit card payments and the shipping company you use for order fulfilment.

What about associations and organisations of which you are a member? These could be local, national, or even global – take the opportunity afforded by your membership and pay for a banner ad at their websites

Banner Ads For Advertising Campaigns

Of course, chances are you first developed your banner ad for a PPC campaign, but don’t forget about other online advertising options. The banner can be used for paid spots on local directories, forums, and even at social media sites like MySpace and Facebook. The more places your ad is run where prospective clientele are sure to be found, the maximum reach you can get out of a single banner.

Another way to use your banner is to incorporate it into an email message sent to your subscriber list. In this case, you will want to forgo flash animation as it may cause your message to end up in the spam folder. Use a plainer, simpler version of the banner used online for the best results.

As you can see, creating one really good banner ad can give you a lot of options for increasing exposure to your company and enjoying the highest click-through rate. It provides an easy way to extend your marketing reach and branding efforts. The time to create a banner is well worth in terms of ROI.

I hope this article has given you some ideas on how to use banner ads to increase your online success. In our next article, we will provide you with tips on how to create great banner ads… stay tuned ;-) .

Have a most outstanding day.

I do like banner ads as they offer you more possibilities to actually catch the attention of the viewer. You can incorporate pictures or graphics which make them much more appealing.

Up to now I mainly thought about them in relation to Google Ads or with affiliate products. Exchanging my own banners with other websites is a very interesting idea. Thanks for that.

Hi Sean,

Thanks for the great tips on how to use banner ads. I hadn’t thought of most of these options. It just shows me that the possibilities are endless as to where I can put my banner ad to gain more exposure for my site.

There a lot of paid options but there are also free options. I like the idea of putting my banner ad in my email to my subscribers.

I think you need another post on banner ads. Answer these questions. What is a banner ad? What isn’t a banner ad? When is an ad not a banner ad? What are the different types of banner ads? How do they differ from other ads? When don’t you use banner ads? What types of banner ads should you not use and when?

I will keep it in mind Wal ;-) For now, a banner ad is basically an ad that has text with an image, hopefully enticing people to click on it.

I always have trouble with the technical side of banner adds and getting them to link to something. I guess that comes with practice. I hadn’t thought about using a banner add on facebook, do you mean in your posts or as a paid per click add?

Hi Jackie,

It’s not hard when you know how. The next time you need one; just ask the guys in the forum. They’ll walk you through it step-by-step and they’ll give you a hand if you have any problems.

That’s how I learned to do it. :)

Hi Sean

I haven’t used banner adds on my site yet however I will be when I get my affiliate site up and running.

I am amazed at how transportable they are and also how versatile they can be. I can create my own, which is something I would really like to do and I can put them on other people’s websites!

Thank you.

I’ve learnt how to create banner ads for adwords but really haven’t done so much with them at this stage as I want to make sure my PPC campaigns aren’t wasting money.

It would be nice if Clickbank gave you banner ads for their products…………….
