Using Online Videos To Increase Popularity

Online VideosThe popularity of your website or blog is a function of more than just how relevant and informational the content is, it also involves various types of content.

Online video content is becoming increasingly trendy with avid internet users. You can create such content easily and post it not only on your own site, but disperse it to other locations on the net in order to increase page views.

Let’s take a look at how this can be accomplished.

1. Post A Video On YouTube

YouTube’s global popularity is enormous. In this day and age of being inundated with information, visuals can be the quickest method of getting a message across.

The trick to using YouTube is to create a video that incites viewers to want to learn more about your product or service and then entices them to click on the link to your website.

Let’s say you are in the business of selling rugby apparel through an affiliate marketing program. An appropriate video would include clips of a rugby game – maybe even ‘bloopers’. Highlight the clothing of the players and how it helps them play a better game. Do not make it an overt sales pitch. The idea is to create interesting content that makes a viewer want further information.

2. Add A Video To Your Blog

Good SEO means that your blog pages include a variety of different content; text, graphics, audio files, and video presentations are all ways to grab the attention of the major search engines.

Online Video content is easy to create. There are any number of devices you can use, from your computer with webcam to your cell phone to a digital camera. The title of the video should include your most relevant keywords. Add meta tags and a written description so that it is easy for both bots and humans to determine what the video is about.

3. Video Content On Your Product Pages

Visual content sells, especially on the internet. As the old saying goes “a picture is worth a thousand words”. Add audio and movement to that picture, and it becomes a virtual salesman.

Show the product in use, or suggest alternate applications. Showcase its features, functions, and any awards it may have received from consumer organisations. Do you sell books, used or new? Include the author’s book trailer.

In conjunction with an affiliate marketing program, product videos can greatly increase conversions.

4. Add Links To Video Content At Bookmarking Sites

Social bookmarking sites that aggregate internet content are the perfect place to post a link to your video content. You can easily tag the bookmark with relevant keywords and offer an enticing description.

Bookmarking sites spread your content virally with little effort. This is also a great way to increase inbound links to your site.

Do not underestimate how Online Video content can increase your site’s popularity. It is a great SEO strategy that is both cheap to create and easy to post on nearly any page or site.

Have a most outstanding day.

Hi Sean,

This is great advice. I am looking for ways to add more visual content to my site. I love the idea of video-blogging. I just have to work up to it, so I might start using something like Camtasia first.

Hi Sean

Using online videos is the way to go for me. As an artist and illustrator I love filmaking and digital media. My son is teaching me stop motion so I am going to develop my own films. Everyone loves a little bit of creativity yes?

I will also be adding a video to my blog and following many of the ideas in your article I am going to have a lot of fun doing this. Excellent article Sean, thankyou.

Being creative is great Elly (and something many people struggle with), I look forward to seeing what you come up with :-)

In this day and age people would rather watch an online vidoe on how to do something rather than read it, misunderstandings would be minimised this way too. Let me know when you are selling your talents Elly :)

The typo is here:

1.Post a Video on Youtube:

create a video “that is incites”

Should read “that incites” the “is” needs to be deleted

In addition, online video content is sooo much fun to create. Just look at all these YouTube stars who have become famous online, just by doing what they love.
