Internet Marketing – Should You Dabble Or Delve

Internet Marketing - Dabble or DelveIt might be, for you, that internet marketing is a new venture. It’s a very exciting one for most that get “the itch”. Many new marketers dive in headfirst and hope they’ll sink instead of swim. Some dip their toe in to test waters and see what they think before taking the plunge.

Many start out as dabblers and graduate to successful full-time internet marketers. Some create passive income streams that supplement their lifestyle on a few hours a week. Some start out doing one thing and find true success in the other.

Regardless of your situation, it’s definitely prudent to do your homework. There’s also another secret to success – consistency.

The delver may do really well eventually but they’ll often make mistakes (and spend a lot of money) before they do. The dabbler might do okay but if they just dabble and are too cautious, they may never take enough risk to actually taste real life-changing success. A lot of factors need to be considered, such as:

• How much money you want to invest.
• How much time you want to invest.
• Whether or not you want to quit your day job or have an internet business as a sideline.

Internet Marketing Success Tips

One thing is clear, whether you’re a dabbler or a delver, to achieve internet marketing success, you should read everything you can on the subject and find some trustworthy people to model your career after. Find blogs, forums, and people you can follow and get great information and advice from. The other thing that’s important is consistency. The most successful online entrepreneurs consistently work toward reaching their goals.

If you want to be successful with internet marketing, you need to spend regular amounts of time on your efforts. Whether you work full time at it or part time at it, you need to provide: consistent effort, consistent quality, consistent customer service, and regularly examine things like your website statistics and your time so that you can ensure that you’re going to be spending your time, efforts, and money wisely.

There is a huge world of opportunity on the internet. It’s still a lot like the wild west right now. You can carve out a niche for yourself and excel, whether you want to be a hobby farmer or own a massive and sprawling ranch, your chances of online success are going to increase if you take careful and calculated risks instead of just diving into uncharted territory.

Do You…

• Regularly work to make sure you’re delivering real value to your customers?
• Regularly write quality content for your site and your blogs?
• Regularly analyse your competition?
• Look closely at optimising your website for maximum exposure?
• Utilise free social media and web 2.0 tools?
• Pay attention to the industry / niche you’re in?
• Constantly work on improving your internet marketing education?

If you’re consistently doing all of the above, you too can become successful with internet marketing.

Have a most outstanding day.

The Dabbler or The Delver? Cool question. This is a blog post that gets me really excited… It’s all just so cool! Especially when you can read a list and say, “Hey, yes, I DO THAT!” I’m so excited that I found something I actually love and get the hang of. IM’ing is just so cool! So so so cool! I can see how one can get slightly… obsessed/addicted to it! Not that I am :) Well, maybe… :)

It is good to read some common sense in this world of internet marketing.

It is far too easy to get sidetracked with all the offers and indications of wealth and success that constantly bombard this computer.

I must make sure that I take your advice to heart and concentrate, be consistent and work with a goal in mind and not get confused, robbed and sidetracked by trying to do it all at once.

Thanks.

Hi Sean,

I’m working on being more consistent. I think it’s important to have a routine and a plan that covers all the areas you need to take care of in order to have a successful blog. Then, it is a matter of working your plan and completing that plan consistently.

I really think having access to a mentor who can guide you along the way is invaluable. I think the right mentor can make it extremely easy to follow in their footsteps. They can keep you motivated when you hit some stumbling blocks and they make it fun.

Thanks, Sean, for being such a great mentor.

You know, I started of being a dabbler, and now feel like I may be a delver (more my nature anyway). I have succumbed to confusion, back-tracking, side-tracking and diversions. I am sure that I wouldn’t be where I am now without guidance, information and advice- I would have taken years to find out what I have learnt so far. To this end, I can actually start ticking some of your checklist. Now, it truly is becoming a calculated action.

Hi Sean,
I’m pleased to have my knowledge base “centered” now that I’m in a forum rather than gathering important info from all over the place. Sometimes I dabble and sometimes I delve but like you say it’s more important to have persistence.

My preference is to delve rather than dabble as I do want to quit my day job and be a full time and successful Internet Marketer.

Delve away Jill, you have a great goal there :-)

Hi Sean

I don’t fit either or these categories. I am neither a dabbler or a delver, I am a diver!.

In I went over a year ago, totally naive into the enticing crystal clear waters of learning. I have had to come up for air several times and to collect some diving gear, but the lessons give me the skill to eventually traverse any internet marketing ocean.

Like my buddy Lina says” its cool, cool, cool!” (but very comfortable when I have my wetsuit of knowledge on!)
