Niche Internet Marketing is smart but don’t forget about the potential for carving a sub niche for yourself when you look at targeting a specific market and demographic. Sub niches are very important in internet marketing.
When you’re selling something in a particular niche or category, making use of the sub niche can do a lot for you in terms of getting found and getting to people who are ready to buy.
You also have the ability to market more than one product to extend the reach of the type of business you can monetise. Instead of just picking one aspect of an industry, choose a broad topic with many sub niches and that can help you have more avenues to earn from as well as help you sell complimenting products to your customers.
Sub Niches don’t just help you in terms of what to sell but you can make good use of them when you plan your search engine optimisation strategy as well. Far too many newbies to the world of Internet Marketing do not make good use of this strategy.
Categorising And Tagging
When writing blogs, articles, web 2.0 pages, and doing some social marketing, make sure you make use of sub niches. Drill down as far as you can when categorising online, because that will allow you to get found by people looking for something specific.
Keywords And Phrases
It’s much easier to get ranked for a phrase than a single popular keyword so picking a sub niche for keywords is a good idea. You might find it next to impossible to get ranked number one for the word ‘computers’ but might find it much easier to rank well for ‘used Compaq computers in Anytown, USA’. Instead of the computer niche, you’ve targeted a local marketed for a specific type and class of computers.
You don’t have to stick to just one niche when you do Internet Marketing but working in complimentary niches can be very advantageous because:
• From an search engine optimisation standpoint you can cross link between your websites.
• You can market more than one product to the same e-mail list instead of having to work hard to build more than one list.
• You can add plenty of related items for sale on your site.
• Contextual advertising works well because it will be able to display many items / ads on your site.
• You can really market and brand yourself as an expert in all things related to your niche market which will help you get more sales and earn more profit!
Have a most outstanding day.

Hi Sean,
I don’t think we do make the most of sub-niches. I don’t think we fully explore our niches and actually work out all of the sub-niches within it. At least I know I don’t.
It makes sense to find complementary niches so we can expand our reach and market more products and become more well known for our niche. I’ll have to think about how I can use this.
Hi Sean
I have been looking at my chosen niches and drilling down into those sub niches. Niche market success requires strategic research and including demographics in the study may eliminate or enhance some of those sub niches, therefore demographics will be a great filtering device and cut through many factors I may not have considered.
I enjoy paring down to the sub niche’s because this is where more specialisation of a product or service can be found. I guess the only problem that could occur here is there could be a very small market at this concentrated level, and may not be profitable to develop.
I really like sub niches as you get good rankings much faster. And with the correct long tail keyword you will, over time, also rank for the niche itself, not only for the sub-niches.
So I agree, internet marketing is very successful when targeting sub niches!
I have a huge number of sub niches in my market of pregnancy, parenting and babycare. I am a little confused though, can I put all of the sub niches on one site or should you have seperate sites for seperated things. For example if I am promoting prams should I be promoting pregnancy books on the same site even though they are for the same market, I worry about confusing the search engines.
You could do it either way Jackie. There is nothing wrong with having a site that promotes different (relevant) products, each post gives you the opportunity to optimise for each product.
Having multiple sites devoted to each sub-niche can also be a great way to go, as each site will be more targeted to the specific niche (and you can have a domain name with your niche keywords which is a big bonus). Something to consider is whether or not you have the time to manage multiple sites.
