True, the Internet is like a big magic box with endless information. My challenge at the moment is not to be overwhelmed and to find a proper filter for everything. I do sometimes get lost surfing from one great article to the next … I like Google Alerts, its a great way to keep up to date with Internet Marketing Knowledge.

Renee, you raise a good point when it comes to filtering information. One of the issues with the information age is that there is so much of it.

Particularly when subscribing to people to get free internet marketing ebooks, it is easy to then get bombarded with ‘urgent’ announcements indicating that there is a limited number of some wonderful product left and I must act now to secure my copy. In most cases these emails don’t add any value and therefore quickly have me deleting them. I also tend to unsubscribe from that mailing list as well, unless I have a particular reason to stay on it.

Hi Tom,

I really dislike those kinds of emails, especially from people I don’t really know. It makes me hit the unsubscribe button really quickly. I sign up for a lot of free stuff from established internet marketers.

But, if the e-book doesn’t help me; I unsubscribe really quickly. There’s no point wasting my time or theirs.

Hi Sean,

I subscribe to a lot of blogs in my niche and I tend to focus on the ones that are the most successful. I get a lot of free e-books and I’ve managed to pick up a lot of information. Just about every time I add someone new on Twitter, I get a DM with a link for a free e-book. :)

Google Alerts is something I haven’t tried yet so I’ll have to check that out. But, I really think when you’re new to Internet Marketing, there is no way you should be paying for any information until you have a better idea of who you can trust.

I may be a bit biased, but I’d say my most important source of free information currently is Sean Rasmussen. Surprise, surprise.

I’ve used Google Alerts frequently in the past when trying to keep abreast of events in areas that held my interest. I subscribe to RRS feed of blogs and also use Google Reader to keep up-to-date in certain fields.

There are multitude of free ways to get Internet Marketing knowledge. Try a few out and see which best fits your operational style.

Currently I use both methods Subscribe to blogs and Google Alerts to keep myself up to date. I find that the google alerts is more of an at hand approach because the alerts are sent to my email where I frequent. The blog subscribes in my google reader need to be fitted into my new time management strategy, which is an ever-growing list of things to do. Never a dull moment :-)

This blog and the others you write are a fantastic source of information already. When i first started Internet Marketing last year I got caught into sumitting my email for a free ebook and then with that came a barrage of emails. Even through receiving 300 + emails a day (I went all out with subscribing to offers), it was a great process to sort through information and actually find people who it was worth subscribing to their blog.
