If you’re selling something online, there are a lot of ways you can earn money throughout the year and if you’re wise you can figure out how to earn MORE during the holiday season. The holidays present what some consider to be a bad time of year because some believe people are just too busy and preoccupied with their offline life but on the contrary, the internet marketing business can see a real boom at this time of year. Why? Let’s explore:
Capitalising On Christmas in Internet Marketing
More people than ever want the convenience of shopping online!
If you can position yourself to sell them something they want, you can earn money at this time of year. Niche holiday-related blogging and an online store could both be great ways to earn money.
People have extra time on their hands!
A lot of people have time off and after the holiday mayhem settles down they might surf the web a little more, and be receptive to you, giving you more of an audience to sell your wares.
People are interested in improving their life as the new year rolls around so if you’re selling a stop smoking product or a weight loss product you can really do well if you position yourself well.
Dream, Plan and then Execute
It takes planning from an SEO perspective and a marketing perspective to capitalize on the holiday season so now at the 11th hour you might not be able to get in on much of the action but you can take these ideas and file them away for next year. Start dreaming up a fabulous marketing campaign for whatever it is that you do, planning early and then you can definitely enjoy some success as a result of online holiday sales.

I didn’t really think about the holidays being a good time for sales. Obviously the net has changed all that.
Have you found during this time when the stores tend to have sales that it really affects online business?
Hi Sean,
I hadn’t thought about capitalizing on the holiday season like this before. I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me because in the real world we do it all the time. I’m used to planning to maximize sales around the various public holidays and seasonal activities. I feel like an idiot right now.
Thanks for the great advice and I’ll certainly be taking a look at the upcoming seasonal activities and seeing what I can come up with.
Hi Sean,
Thank you, for reminding me. That was my New Year Resolution. By December 09, and thanks to you, my appitite had been whet for Affiliate Internet Marketing, however I realized I was too late to cash in on this Xmas’s present buying frenzy. Due to this realization, I made a solemn NYR that I was not going to miss out on Xmas 2010. I wrote it down as well! As it is, I think I’m on track to achieving that goal. I am also giving you the credit for that, Sean, with all this wonderful learning, that you are making available.
Thanks,
I definitely have to keep that in mind – in time for this years holiday. I know I am not using these special times enough to create new sales, but I will use my online tools 100% this year!
Hi Sean
You have some really great ideas there and I can see them working, especially the weight loss plan or similar. I would like to investigate the possibilities as it is only about 5 months until Christmas.
I will do a survey on all my friends via email and ask them what their NY resolutions have been , especially the ones they don’t stick to as there is an opening for return customers (lol).
The holiday season comes on so quickly and setting your plan early is really important. If you are looking at just targetting the holiday season then you need to make sure that you are getting the most bang for your buck and time. There is a lot money floating around at this time of the year!
