There is a lot of free information available online about internet marketing. But, there may come a time when you’re ready to delve a bit deeper and buy an e-book on marketing. Which ones are the best? Which ones are duds?
It’s a good idea to do a bit of digging on the author of books you’re considering and see what that author appears to be all about. A good reputation can be determined and lucky for you, a bad reputation can be even easier to find out so have a look at the author and their reputation closely before spending money on an e-book or marketer mentoring program.
How to know if an e-book is worth buying
Ask others in your niche if they’ve bought the book and see what they say. Check for reviews on the book. While you’ll find a lot of endorsements with embedded and cloaked affiliate links, you might consider looking for the opinion of someone you know will give a negative opinion if the e-book warrants it. Finding mentors and gurus in internet marketing can take time but if you spend time researching and learning through the many free information sites that are out there, you’ll pick up a lot of knowledge.
Buying an e-book with a money back guarantee through a trusted payment processor such as ClickBank or PayPal is also a good idea as you know you really have nothing to lose but time reading the book.
There’s also a great internet marketing forum called the Warrior Forum which is probably the largest and oldest internet marketing forum on the net. you’ll find plenty of free and honest information there.

Hi Sean,
This is really great advice. Essentially, just do your homework. Take your time and check out the people you are considering buying something from. My advice would be to use the free stuff as a guide to the quality of information that you can expect. Also, watch them over time and assess their behavior.
Also, just Google their name and see what comes back. You just never know what you might find.
You need to do your homework and not just buy it because the sales page sounds good. Thanks for the forum link, I will have a closer look there.
Hi Sean
I am beginning to see that the Warrior Forum will be an excellent resource.
I have checked out some so called gurus through Google and found some disturbing information about them. They are off the Christmas card list now.
Hi Sean
Well this is very sound advice. It made me think about my own Ebook and how I can promote it with more transparency. Maybe give the first and second chapters away as a freebie?
I can honestly say that I have downloaded for free or bought many Ebooks and I have found them all to be really wonderful. I always attract into my life the right information at the right time.
I think there is heaps of great information here and I thank you for that.
Before you buy ebooks or mentoring Internet Marketing, I agree that that you should research the pundits and gurus online get a better handle on their reputation. Being in the “once burned, twice shy” category and now older and wiser, if I get an offer I always check someone out online before even proceeding to their website.
And as usual, I came across another little gem in this article: Warrior Forum. Bookmarked and in ToDo list and “Learn and Earn” notebook.
Hi Don,
Checking out someone online before you buy something from them is a great way to get to know who you’re going to business with. If you look at all their online profiles you’ll really get a good picture of the kind of person they are.
Then, if you read some of the stuff their followers say about them, you’ll get to see the real them in no time.
I have only brought one Ebook but there are some I have got for free, I think a lot of us are the same Don “Once bitten twice shy”.
When someone buys an Ebook off Clickbank and then want a money back refund…….what stops them from keeping the book anyway (being dishonest) – it is a pity if this happens.
I have noticed with some products I have been looking at on Clickbank that the refund rate is very high – so stay away…however how many people still kept the file on their computer?
Thankyou for the Warrior Forum link – anything is appreciated!
