Most people who want to make a lot of money online will find that there’s an awful lot of fierce competition out there already. How do you capitalise on the ability to earn money through the internet? You need to set yourself apart from the rest. You need a USP (unique selling proposition). Sure, you could go ahead and sell something that’s already selling like hot cakes but you might only make mediocre earnings because businesses like yours are a dime a dozen. Things that are unique can take a bit more work to launch but the results could be that you could make a huge difference in your own success levels.
USP – Unique Selling Proposition
Whether it’s the product that you sell, the type of business you have or the customer experience that’s unique, finding a unique selling proposition can make your online business the next great thing. How do you set yourself apart?
- Research. Figure out what people want.
- Solve a problem. Figure out how to make someone’s life better.
- Provide value. Give people something valuable. The perceived value has to be greater than the cost.
Great businesses aren’t built over night so even if you do hop on some other band wagon to get your feet wet and learn, if you take the time to find or create a great solution for your customers, you can definitely stand apart in the crowd of competitors in your niche.
Have a most outstanding day.

Hi Sean,
This can be a problem especially when you’re in a market that has a lot of heavy competition. I’m not sure how to stand out from the crowd. I understand about the need to have a unique selling proposition. I’m just not sure what mine is or how to communicate it to my readers. This might be the problem.
I’m still trying to figure this out. However some interest has been shown in a related field which may prove to be a better avenue
Hi Sean
I have a product but I have been unsure about the researching part. What you have indicated in this article about research is great and I will take your advice on this.
You have already ‘been there and done that’ so I know that if it works for you it can work for me. I am willing to do what it takes to stand out from the crowd, I just need to know the how, and I will be on to it. Thanks Sean, just look for me in the crowd and let me know if you see me and I will know it’s working!
The third part I can and do do well.
The second point I can do as well.
It’s the first one that I seem to fail at. Getting that USP or identifying one is the big thing
Great businesses aren’t built over night especially when you’ve found a niche in the market. When I found it I thought it was great and had so many benefits so why wouldn’t everyone else be chapping at the bit?
Well I’ve found with a niche comes unfamiliarity among the general public and not into flocking into the unknown. Gaining trust and building rapport helps to develop your unique selling position.
Using my own belief has also enhances my selling position by opening one door which had lead to four others. I am now moving from formulation stage to concentration stage and from there forward with HUGE momentum.
Creating a unique selling proposition can be a daunting task.
I find the most difficult part, even with a lot of research, is determining what the next big fad or must-have people are looking for. Part of the problem I guess is that I’ve never been interested in those things myself and have difficulty identifying what might be obvious to someone who is more tuned in to materialism.
Hell, I even buy my designer shirts at Goodwill! Talk about passe styles.
Finding the sweet spot niche does take a little time in the research, but is well worth the time to get right. The google keywords tool, wonderwheel, KW map and also my favourite, Market Samurai are great in trying to find a USP to help you achieve success.
