We all want traffic to our websites. Without online traffic, our sites won’t rank well in the search engine results pages, and it is less likely that you will benefit from the maximum number of sales.
Of course, not all traffic is created equally. Sometimes visitors end up at your site who really have no interest in what you are offering. Other times your competitors may merely be checking out your landing page. But what about those visitors who are truly interested in buying something?
How do you start Targeting Traffic to increase conversion rate?
Targeting Traffic With Keywords
First, think about the keywords you are optimising your site with. Are they appropriate for reaching the top of the SERP when someone wants to buy a product you offer?
For instance, let’s say that your website is used for selling gardening tools. You may have done some keyword research and determined that the following keywords are a good fit: “gardening gloves”, “composted mulch”, and “women’s gardening tools”. That’s great, but you may be missing out on potential customers. When a person inputs any of those search terms, they may merely be wishing to read an article on the subject, or to see ratings of several different brands.
How about including content or bidding on keywords for your PPC campaign that include the word “buy” (“buy gardening gloves”)? The savviest of online consumers know that general search terms will bring up all manner of web pages, using the word “buy” will bring up retail sites.
Opt-Ins
Once you get a visitor to your site who may be interested in your products but not quite ready to make a purchase, how you can parlay this into a future sale?
One way is to entice them to opt-in to your database via an online form or subscription button. Once you’ve got their relevant information, you can stay in touch via customer newsletters or personal email messages. As long as you don’t make these communications blatant spam, you just may be able to convert a subscriber to a customer. The trick is to establish a relationship and keep nurturing it.
Focus Your Message
When you want buyers to arrive at your website, there are certain terms you can use to entice them to visit and then make a sale.
Think about the demographics of your particular target market. What will speak to their exact needs? If they are busy professionals, then you may want to advertise that making a purchase from your site is both quick and easy. If they are environmentally conscious, then make it clear that your products are eco-friendly or that you donate a portion of all sales to a green organisation.
Do you target families on a budget? Be sure to include words such as “cheap” or “economical”. These are the types of terms that will ultimately cause your visitors to buy your products, because you are addressing a specific concern.
Sometimes, optimising a website to reach potential buyers involves some techniques that are different than the SEO strategies used to gain the top of the SERPs. Remember that buyers are people, and they behave differently than web crawlers.
If you make the effort and start Targeting Traffic with the methods mentioned above, you should see a dramatic increase in your bottom line.
Have a most outstanding day.

Dear sir/mamn,i’m trying to find some free traffic to my web store.I’m tired of spending money and not making none.in other words,i’m spending money but i don’t have any coming in.thank you, john pearson
Hi Sean,
I think the best way to get targeted traffic is to work out want you want them to do when they come to your page first. You choose your keywords around that. If you want them to buy something, you need to include a ‘buying’ word into your keyword phrase.
