Website TrafficHey wait! Come back here! You didn’t buy anything yet!

Have you ever felt like saying this to visitors who find your site, only to leave without making a purchase? What a waste of Website Traffic right? Especially if you’ve paid a fee for that click.

If you are finding that getting traffic to your website is not the problem, getting visitors to stay is, then there are several things you can do about it. First, focus on getting qualified traffic. Second, do what you can to get that qualified traffic to stay and make a purchase.

What’s Your Bounce Rate

Start by taking a look at your website statistics. No matter what program you use to track activity, it should tell you how many visitors click on your site and then leave immediately, or leave without taking a look around past the landing page. These are referred to as bounces.

If you are getting a high bounce rate, consider if your pages are properly tagged and indexed. Are visitors arriving at your site only to discover it is not relevant to their search? If so, this is a waste of everyone’s time. If you are running a PPC campaign, this could even cost you money because the traffic you are getting is not qualified.

Exit Pop-Ups

If qualified traffic is not the problem, then you simply need to get your visitors to stay and find something they want to buy. Particularly if someone clicks on your site, searches the content for a while, and then leaves, chances are that person could easily be converted to a customer.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity. Consider installing an exit pop-up. This refers to a piece of code on your site that brings up a new window when a visitor clicks the back or close buttons. An effective pop-up usually offers the visitor something extra if they select the option that indicates they want to be returned to the page they were browsing. This extra could be a discount, free shipping, risk-free trial, or some sort of bonus for performing whatever action you desire.

Opt-Ins

Another way to take advantage of Website Traffic is to ask visitors to opt-in to your subscriber list. They may not have made a purchase during their initial visit, but if you can capture their contact information, you have a way of directly communicating with them in the future, and a way to convert them into a customer.

You can require an opt-in for visitors to access specific pages or content on your site, or you can make it an exit pop-up. To be effective, though, opt-in forms must offer the visitor something to make it worth their while. Consider giving subscribers a free copy of an ebook or report that is relevant to the content on your site.

These are just some of the ways you can ensure you are receiving qualified Website Traffic and then inducing them to buy your product or service. As with any type of SEO or marketing technique, make sure your site is easily navigable, offers a quality product, and includes interesting and informative content. All of these changes should greatly enhance your conversion rate.

Have a most outstanding day.

You should know how to get targeted traffic if you want to be successful. What’s the use of getting a lot of visitors but they’re not going to buy any of your product because you didn’t get the right people. That is why it is important that you’ll know how to target the right people when marketing.

If anyone does offline, face-to-face sales, you’d know how frustrating it is when a potential customer walks away… You just want them to come back, but once the opportunity is lost, it’s gone. At least capturing their details and getting their permission to market to them, is what any good sales person should do.

Hi Sean,

Making the most of website traffic seems pretty straightforward. Yet, it’s something I struggle with. My bounce rate is far too high and I need to do something about it. Although,I find it varies depending on the posts I write.

I think I will try installing the exit pop-up first and see if I can’t entice the visitor to fill in an opt in form so I can get their details. I just have to find something to give away for free that complements my product and site.

Hi Sean,
Making sure my pages are properly tagged and indexed is something I need to improve on. I need to be able to make the most of the website traffic that land on my pages.

This article has highlighted that website statistics need to be checked regularly. Also that, if it show an excessive bounce rate then I have to change the tags and indexing. Making changes can improve the SEO on my website and lessen the bounce rate.
