Ideas are everywhere when you work online. This morning I had a fantastic idea for a post for the SeanSEO blog. I was doing something repetitive away from the computer and often when I do that my mind gets wandering to work and this is one of my best times for creating and strategising. I think about copywriting strategies when I’m walking the dog. I come up with article ideas when I’m washing the dishes. I get idea sparks when I’m at the grocery store.
Ideas are everywhere!
So, this morning I had a great idea for a post and was going to dash over to the PC to open a new word document to just put my thoughts down to save it for later. Then something happened. I don’t know what it was. It might’ve been the phone ringing or something else but I got distracted and now I’ve forgotten the idea. Dang! I know it had something to do with copywriting but it didn’t stick. Hopefully it comes back because I remember being excited about getting it written down.
Write it down!
The point here is that you should write your ideas down. I have a folder on my computer with ideas and I have a spiral notebook in my purse for ideas. I even have a notepad in my bedside table because ideas happen constantly. If you get writer’s block when working on something for your online business, the best thing you can do is go away from the computer because other things can inspire you and unblock you. It’s just important to remember those ideas and save them for later!
Have a most outstanding day.

Those are good tips. iQuite often I will get ideas in the strangest places and if I don’t get them down they are lost.
Same with music. I might hear a song but can’t remember the name or the artist. Then all of a sudden out of nowhere it pops back in.
Hi Sean,
It’s true I do get ideas from everywhere and it does help to write them down because I forget them too. I agree with taking a break when you have writer’s block.
I find that doing something physical like working out helps to clear my mind. I always find the idea to continue with while I’m exercising. Maybe it’s because I expect I’ll get it then?
Hi Sean,
“Ideas Happen” It could only come from “The Man” Sean Rasmussen!
Such good advice Sean. To write an idea down ASAP. I do hope you remember that great idea again SOON.
I had a similar experience, a long while ago now, while hanging the cloths on the line. I got a fantastic idea on how to become “really” wealthy in business. It was so simple! I thought, I’ll run in and jot it down…..nah! it’s so simple I won’t forget it. To this day I haven’t remembered it again.
So thanks Sean, your advice is “so” on the mark! Your thinking is “so” designed for success. I really love reading your blogs!
Hi Sean,
Good advice about having a notepad to write ideas down. I have found the humble mobile phone I also a great tool to record these sudden ideas. It’s not as easy as a notepad but you almost always have it close by!
