I haven’t tried a webhost yet as I have only been advertising other peoples sites, but if I want to create my own online business I will have to search one out. It seems that good customer service is paramount to a good webhost.

All valid points – however most of these things are now standard for like every web host.

I think one of the most important things you can do to checking out how good a web host is, is to test their support out. Just send them a friendly message, something like hello, I am interested in signing up for your web hosting, however I need to know if the following services are enabled on your server…

If it takes them 2 days to get back to you, chances are the rest of their service sucks. Usually support quality and service quality go hand in hand.

I think its very important to check the feature of hosting service according to your hosting needs, before choosing any hosting companies. Moreover i do agree with your support details, as both technical and customer support of any hosting company play a vital role and what happen in most of the cases companies claiming cheap web hosting services failed to provide quality support.
