Although yesterday we talked about new internet marketers focusing on something until you find that it’s working before you add to the mix, today we are going to talk for the benefit of those who have been at the online money making business for long enough that they can see patterns in what they’re earning and how they’re doing. This can be helpful information for a novice and for those who have had more than just a few affiliate cheques come in.
Internet marketing can be a lot like exercise. Once you’ve done the same thing for a while your routine can stop showing you results. Diversifying income and switching up your marketing tactics is important. While some things continue to work and bring you results, there comes a time when you’ll want to stretch a little so you can reach new goals. Just like exercise routines need to periodically be adjusted so do advertising methods.
Signs you may need to switch your marketing tactics:
- Slow down in traffic
- Slow down or level out of dollars earned
- Loss of search engine positioning
Things you can do to switch things up:
- Try a new article directory
- Do some social marketing with new social media tools
- Read some e-books and find out about the latest new trends, ideas and tools.
Staying up to date on the latest and greatest internet marketing news and trends can help you stay ahead of the curve so you don’t flatline in your earnings. Tested and true can work but try to stay ahead of the game by trying new techniques every few months as well.
Have a most outstanding day.

Thank you for this list. I am new to Internet Marketing and these lists were worth a trip to my printer. I have them hanging by my desk to remind me what to look for when my views shrink!
Just what I needed!
Hi Sean,
This is excellent advice but I don’t have this problem yet. I’ll keep it in mind for one day soon.
Some good tips there. Keeping up to date with trends and new IM techniques is high on my list.
It is very important to keep up with the latest trends, that’s for sure and now with the new iPad on the market it is sure to change the way we interact with each other .
I am still developing my sites so it isn’t applicable yet. Great advice though
Another page of tips to include in my Learn And Earn notebook for that day when I see the income tapering off.
Oh damn, I have to have some income before it can taper off.
Nevertheless, thanks for prompting us to keep abreast of new internet marketing techniques and keep our blogs working for us.
Hi Don,
Seeing the way you are doing now, I don’t think it will be too long before you will have an income, You are doing so well.
I have to get to that plateau in internet marketing first before I have to worry about avoiding it. It is avoiding me at the moment – but what this Learn & Earn is doing is moving me forward towards and up the hill to the plateau
Hi Sean
I don’t have this problem of reaching a plateau either yet, however, it is really good to have this information.
Being pre warned in the event that stagnation may happen and I am only earning $20K a week (lol), I will be sure to click on this link, which I have saved on a MS word doc.
Thanks Sean.
I have to agree with all of the above..one for the favourites for future reference…still sooner or later we all flatline, or plateau \m/
Hi Sean,
I hope I have this problem in the near future, That would be real cause for celebration.
In the mean time I will ensure my marketing tactics are om track.
Keep up on internet marketing news, and make sure my marketing efforts are as good as they can be.
There are already so many helpful tips in so many different areas on my to do list I am sure that I won’t be having any diversity problems any time soon. Keeping up with all the latest trends is important though and something to always keep in mind in the fast paced internet world
Thankyou for the advice to stop staleness and to keep the motivation up. It is like reaching the top of a mountain – you want to stay there and not start sliding down as it was a lot of work getting to the top in the first place. Good marketing tactics.
