A lot of buzz in the internet marketing community states that people aren’t spending as much as usual due to the state of the economy. Is this hurting you specifically? What can you do about it? Some people are refusing to take part in a recession. (Read that post, you’ll be glad you did!) Some people are tweaking their sales copy to appeal to those who want to stretch their dollar further. Others are changing their niche. What can you do to ride out the storm?
Rebuking the Recession
Your attitude will take you far in this business. Be as positive as you can be about your earning potential and execute your plan with decisiveness and passion. If you go in to work each day with an attitude that tells you that you have a 50% chance of failure that day, you will probably be right. Turn that frown upside down!
Tweak Your Sales Copy
Can your product be sold in a way that appeals to people who are worried or stressed out about the world’s economy? You can use that to your advantage! Look at your sales copy now and think about your audience. What might be their barriers to buying? What selling point would sell you on that product? A little sales page tweaking on a semi-regular basis to match current events could substantially increase your conversion rate.
Change Your Niche
Perhaps it’s time to change your niche. Sometimes sales just dwindle because a product or niche is past its prime. Use your research skills to help you find a new niche. We’ll talk about ways of doing that tomorrow so come back (or subscribe to SeanSEO!), please.
The world of business in any industry online or offline has both peaks and valleys. Another way to handle slow times is to use it as an opportunity for personal and intellectual growth. If you have down time, use it to help you get more knowledgeable about your niche, about SEO, about copywriting and other areas that can help you increase your earning potential.
Have a most outstanding day.

Hi Sean,
Thank-you for the link to the article. It was well worth reading and I have to say I agree. Our attitude determines how we respond to situations. If we think and feel positive thoughts; we are much more likely to take positive actions which create positive results.
I love the attitude of the guy who refused to take part in the recession. It just shows how powerful your mind can be. If your mind doesn’t receive the message that there’s a recession on, you won’t act as if there is one.
Sean
Some interesting points you make. I would of thought we should be learn continually.
Tried to look at the article about recession but it was weird. I had to scroll across the page and some strange characters were covering some of the words. I will have to come back to it.
Hi Sean
I just read Ivan Misner’s article on “I refuse to participate in a recession”. I enjoyed it immensely, especially the comments back to him, all so positive and uplifting.
I have never participated in so called recessions either. When many around me in the 1980’s were falling into the recession pit, my partner at the time and I vowed we would not even entertain the thought and told ourselves that it was the best year yet.
The results of that was that we had the best year financially we had ever had. It’s endearing to know that other people think the same way.
Is it a good year or a bad year? That is up to you!
I like it “I Absolutely Refuse to Participate in a Recession!” I also read Ivan Misner’s article.
I had forgotten how much good could come from networking, but it has been over 12 years since I have been to one
I know what I have to do now arrange a networking meet up.
Even though a recession does have a widespread hit, all niches also experience trends (Google trends
) and being able to diversify is a key skill. Also having different types of income on your page (affiliate, adsense, CPA etc) does keep the money ticking through.
