One of the biggest challenges there is for those new to internet marketing is determining where to focus their efforts. There are so many things you can do in your niche for profit potential that you might feel a bit like a headless chicken some days. Time management is crucial for success when you’re self-employed either full or part time.

While one of the benefits to being an entrepreneur is the ability to have a flexible schedule, you might find that being too flexible will result in lack of focus, which can translate to lack of results. It’s a great idea to make a schedule for yourself.

Time Management Tips for Entrepreneurs

time management

Not only can you use time management tricks like tabbed browsing to check all your sites and statistics but you can also benefit from using free online time management tools to remind you to do things. Google Calendar, for instance, can be set up to help you remember to do things hours, days or even months away from today.

Taking time to dabble in different new ventures might also be something you schedule in. For example, during a particular day of the week you might slot in a few hours to read news in your niche or visit and network in community forums. You might also dedicate a morning a week to building links through article marketing or commenting on relevant blogs.

Routine can definitely help you in your quest to increase your income and build an online presence. Finding balance might not seem like an easy task at first but you can learn to be more productive and organised if you put your mind to it.

Have a most outstanding day.

Hi Sean,

I have a routine that I work to but I still have difficulty maintaining it when life throws me a curve ball. I need to learn to get back on track as quickly as possible instead of ‘clicking’ around like a headless chicken trying to catch up. This approach is not working. :)

Generally though, I love lists and I find a daily and weekly to-do list to be very effective. Also, I tend to set a schedule around what I do each day and at certain times of the day. I find having structure really helps me to get things done.

Time management is one of the critical elements. I find I can manage my time pretty well

The curve balls do come along.

I’ve got to say really competitive competitions don’t help. Wink, wink

Hi Gee,

Sean’s competition is not helping. My routine has gone out the window as well. :)

Yes – the competition sure does place additional demands on our time, but it definitely brings its own rewards (aside from any prizes).

Interestingly, it has forced me to be absolutely ruthless with what I dedicate my time to, so that I can make sure I keep moving towards my internet marketing goals while also meaningfully participating. I’ll be looking forward to the end of March to be able to have a bit of a rest. Perhaps then I can catch up on the webinars I have missed.

I still haven’t taken the step into using Google Calender. I find the the humble spreadsheet with a well thought out list of tasks does the trick.

Also having it stuck up to your wall forces it in your face everyday, so if you do not stick to it, you can only blame yourself.

Time management is essential when it comes to running any business.

Being retired, I find I sometimes let time management get away from me. At times this is nice but I think I’d grow old very quickly if I didn’t normally use some type of time management.

Of course, being retired means that I strongly support free, online tools such as Google Calendar. I set it up with reminders arriving in my email each morning and I can check/modify the calendar anytime I have access to the Internet which nowadays is almost anywhere.

So true! I am really a headless chicken at the moment and have been for the past 12 months – always so much to do, things to write, tweet, submit, read……….then you get bored and move onto another site and then get all stressed because your first one isnt finished …but you’ve started a second one and then you find a great idea which would be good to put on both and then you find a new tactic so start a new site and then have to go back and re-do parts of site one as the new ideas are so great – oh and make sure you twitter ………

So yes, schedule and routine is a must !

I really struggle with times management and the headless chicken analogy really applies some day. I am slowly developing my routine and I’ve made a great schedule which I am constantly adding to ensure that I don’t miss anything. I also have a bookmark forlder just for sites I need to visit every day which I right click on and open all in tabs!

Hi Sean,
I’m learning that I must develop a daily routine for Internet Marketing success. I didn’t know Google had an online calender.

This makes it much easier for me to get started with making a list and getting into a routine each day. I have so much to do and will not achieve it all if I don’t learn to manage my time.
