1. Link to your other blogs in the blogroll on each of your blogs
2. Refer to your other blogs in blog posts and link to those posts with anchored long tail key phrases
3. Add widgets with your blogs listed in them and links to your other online efforts (such as Squidoo lenses, Hubpages and ezinearticles) to dress up your blogs.
4. Add link love to your blogs by linking to them in HubPages, Squidoo lenses and on your other social networking sites, too.
5. Comment on your various blog posts but using your links for OTHER blog addresses.

As you can see, blogging doesn’t just offer you the ability to get a message out but it also enables you to improve your SEO, give yourself link love, create multiple-way linking strategies for other articles and websites and gives you the ability to monetize your sites. This isn’t a decision which should be taken lightly, especially since you could conceivably be using whichever blogging platform you choose for a long time to come. You can see why it is important to take some time over your decision; while you can move your blog at a later date if you wish, it still involves a certain amount of hassle and it’s something you want to try and avoid if you can.

The answer lies in looking at all the main providers and seeing what they actually provide you with. Visit some IM forums as well and see what other users have to say about each provider and the service you get. If you are using your own domain name and hosting then you don’t need to worry about sticking within their rules and regulations, but you still want to know that your chosen blogging platform is user friendly and will do what you want it to do.

Make Blogging Easier

Ideally you want your blogging platform to make the whole process of posting to your blog quick and easy. If it’s difficult to use or doesn’t make the grade in any way, you will find it irritating to use over the long term. Think about how you want your blog to look too – will your chosen blogging platform help you to achieve that look?

It takes time to build traffic to a blog, and with that on your mind it will be nice to know that you don’t have to worry about how easy the whole thing is to use.

If you have a site you’re trying to optimise for search engines that’s a blog, one of the greatest ways you can optimize it is to give it some link love. Consider putting up some or even all of the following types of links into every blog post you write. Here are three types of link love and why they’re good for your SEO:

Link to Yourself

Why give someone nothing else to look at on your site? Link in posts to other posts that are related to the topic at hand.  That way, when your visitor is done reading, they’ll find something else to look at. The longer they’re on your site, the more likely they’ll buy something or subscribe.

Link to Others

Linking to other sites in your niche does at least two things.  First, it shows search engines that you are relevant to your topic because of the linking between sites. The other site might allow track backs which will show as links and comments on their blog posts and this could also result in people blogrolling you, visiting your site and linking to you in their posts as well. Wherever possible link to sites with as good or better a page rank as you.

Link to an Authority

If you link to a site that has a high page rank on your site, this does several things. It helps with your page relevancy and can pull your own site rankings up.  It also helps readers understand what something means.  For instance, linking to Wikipedia is considered linking to an authority.  When you do it, tell the link to open in a new page so that a visitor checking the definition of a term won’t leave your website and not find their way back easily.

We’ve all heard those stories of affiliate marketers making thousands of dollars a week by selling products from ClickBank. All the money pours into their account faster than they could hope to spend it and they simply keep on selling more and more all the time.

But we have also heard the stories of people who join the site, try to sell a few things and never make a dime. Most people fall somewhere in the middle of those two extremes when it comes to being affiliate marketers, but unless you are one of the happy few who are really in the top league, you will want to try and increase your sales in some way.

The best way to do this is to look at what you are currently doing first. How much are you promoting these products? Are you really putting the most effort into it, or could you be doing a lot more to become a better affiliate marketer? The people who really are at the top of this particular money tree are always the ones putting in the most effort, so you’ll need to do that yourself if you want to climb even the hard to reach branches to be sitting up there with them.

The Next Step

The next step is to look at the actual products you are promoting. Are they the best sellers? Are they appropriate for your particular audience? Are they likely to bring you a large number of sales or only a few from time to time?
