Many internet marketers dabble in several areas to be able to make some income online and Blog Flipping is one potential avenue you could stroll on down.
If you’re interested in website flipping (building a website and then selling it for profit) selling blogs is a great way to go. There’s a market for blogs out there on popular niche subjects and it’s quick and easy to put a blog together, even if you aren’t highly technical!
If you create a great blog with a bit of time, research, and effort, you could flip (sell) that blog for a tidy profit. A great thing is that while you’re waiting to sell it, it can also be earning you some cash, as well.
Here is some advice for getting a blog together and getting it prepared for maximum profit.
The Cost Of Blog Flipping
A URL typically costs you under $15 and you can add WordPress to your blog for free. Themes can be free as well and you’ll find plenty of free WordPress themes to choose from. You might even buy theme packs online that you can use for this purpose that aren’t easy to find, which could give you a real edge!
Research
You can create plenty of blogs on various topics but be sure the topics will be what people want. Do some research to see what the trends are, what keywords to use, and try to come up with an optimised URL that has a related keyword in it.
Note:
If possible, register a .com instead of another URL extension as .com’s tend to fetch more than say, a .tv, .us, .ca, .au, etcetera.
Content
Putting content on the blog is essential. You can write articles, have article written for you, or rewrite some private label content (plr articles). Do some keyword research and work long tail keywords in so that you can drive traffic to the blog.
The better your traffic statistics, the more money you can make out of Blog Flipping. Content brings search engines in. You might put up at least ten pages of content on a blog that you’re getting ready to flip.
SEO / Traffic
How else can you get blog traffic? You might do some social marketing, social bookmarking, directory and article submissions. You’ll want an idea of the traffic for the blog so that you can advertise this when you’re selling it.
People interested in buying your blog will be more apt to bid higher if there’s established traffic, especially if you’ve got some page 1 Google, Yahoo, or Bing placements!
Monetization
Just like you might put ads on a parked domain to make money while you’re thinking about what to do with it (or waiting for a buyer), consider monetizing the blog while you wait with Google or Yahoo ads and perhaps some affiliate links.
This way, you’re showing potential buyers the earning potential, making money while you wait to sell it, and increasing the chances of profit. You never know, the blog might become a nice little cash cow that you either sell for more than you thought, or choose to keep due to the profit!
Flipping Your Blog
There are plenty of online Blog Flipping market places where you can flip your blog for profit. (Sitepoint is a very popular one). Anything extra you can do to make the blog look unique could provide extra profit!
Have a most outstanding day.

Hey Sean.
You never cease to amaze. Web site flipping is indeed a well worked niche but it never occurred to me to actually be flipping “blogs” even thoughthey are in fact websites in their own right.
A great post and as always with you ideas, food for thought.

Hi Sean K.
Blogs are the majority now as they are much easier to use compared to old school traditional websites, not to mention search engines love them! If you take a look at websites like Flippa and Sitepoint, you will find that a large number of the sites for sale are Wordpress blogs. I don’t do flipping myself to be honest, but a lot of people do and the ones that know what they are doing can do quite well from it.
