Marketing A New BlogThere are a lot of reasons to start a new blog. A new niche, a new product, a new affiliate marketing program

Here are some tips on marketing a new blog that will help to bring search engines and traffic to that new blog:

Leverage Your Other Blogs

If you have other blogs, use them to get people visiting your new blog. You can help your new blog by inserting links in the blogroll or the body of blog posts. You can also add a banner to the sidebar that directs potentially interested traffic to your new blog.

Social Media

Social media offers a great opportunity to send people and search engines to a new blog. Using social bookmarking can help your new blog get indexed in the search engines faster.

Try using StumbleUpon, Digg, and Delicious for social bookmarking and consider mentioning the new blog on your Facebook status, in your Twitter feed, and elsewhere so that people and so that search engines will take notice. You might even open separate accounts on social sites that allow you to market the blog exclusively.

Blog Commenting

Blog commenting can be very helpful when marketing a new blog. Visit some blogs in your niche and write comments that link back to your new blog. The established blog has subscribers that are in your target market and those people may also become subscribers of yours as well.

Guest Posts

Write guest posts that link back to your new blog and submit them to established blogs. This is an example of why you might choose to join an internet marketing networking group.

A group can help one another in many ways and most internet marketers and blog publishers love having new content for their site and so are very willing to consider posting valuable guest posts for their audience. They’ll typically allow you to list a link back to your site, which gives you a backlink as well as directs new potential subscribers to you.

Article Marketing

Article marketing is a great way to get backlinks to your new blog and to direct people to it as well. The backlinks will improve your search engine exposure, especially when you anchor strong keyword phrases (do some keyword research before you start this, so you can choose good keyword phrases).

The articles themselves can also pre-sell your readers as they direct them to your blog where you can capture a sale or an e-mail address with an opt-in to receiving future communication from you,

Web 2.0 Pages

When starting a new blog, doing a HubPage, a Squidoo Lens or writing another article, you can drive traffic to your blog, improve the SEO, build your brand, and establish yourself as an expert as well. These pages can be interactive, include links, add RSS feeds to your blog (so they continually update the Web 2.0 page with new info), and pre-sell your readers.

Marketing a new blog can be an exciting venture. An aggressive marketing campaign, especially after you have a few new posts listed on the site is a good idea that can help you make the most of the blog’s ability to increase your income.

Have a most outstanding day.

There are really so many ways on how to market your blog. I do all these in marketing my blogs and websites and I must say that they are all very effective. As long as you put your effort into marketing, you will definitely reap the monetary rewards.

When all the marketing is said and done, I believe it just boils down to hard work. Good content produced from good research, presented in away that draws readers.

It is definitely hard work.
I’ve got a few more of the strategies to put in place yet

Once the good content is online it is important to tell everybody about it. My favorite at the moment are the Social Media like Twitter, FB, Digg etc.

With these tools you can tell a lot of readers that there is something new and interesting out there. Which will create a lot of interest for your new blog.

As well as the other marketing strategies it’s interesting to realize that commenting on a blog has so many advantages.

Hello Sean,

I was wondering how to promote a new blog, now I am getting excited on how to direct traffic to another blog that we have as a idea!!! I am wondering if you start another blog, do you keep updated on your previous blogs, even when you are clear with a “niche” and that is how your new blog is heading. I am wondering how to juggle more blogs, but I do want to keep the other ones going :) Interesting times ahead.

Cheers
Lisa

Hi Lisa

I think it depends on how successful your original blog is. If you have a following, those readers will be pretty disappointed if you stop all of a sudden! But if it’s still new, was just a test, and or you don’t have too many loyal readers, then you might consider letting that one go if you think the new one needs a lot of attention. It’s a matter of weighing up the costs and benefits. The two blogs might actually complement each other! Also, as IM’ers get more professional and serious about their online businesses, they start to delegate a lot of the work out, like the writing and technical stuff. Just some things to think about.

Great topic Sean. When you’re new, the first blog is such a good training ground. As your skills, audience and confidence expand, venturing out with new blogs is really exciting. My husband and I are working on a new blog together. It’s a really great new “joint venture” for us both. Totally different to what I’m doing on my own and it gives my readers a different perspective of me. It’s so much fun! Thanks for the ideas on marketing it.

I do enjoy blogging. I find the honesty of it and the personal touch very attractive and rewarding.

Now I know what to do to promote and market my blogs. I know it is slow going, but I am determined to take your many suggestions of StumbleUpon, Digg, Delicious, Facebook, Twitter, HubPage and Squidoo to heart and flood the airwaves with these important and fantastic blogs of mine.

Thanks.

I love social media to promote my blogs, because you can put a short message with the link in.

But I have to admit how surprised I was that the articles I have placed on ezine created so much interest in my site.
