Some people use their blogs to promote their website and build their brand and some people monetize it directly.
Blogging can be extremely profitable both directly and indirectly. It doesn’t typically happen overnight but it can start to bring in income over time.
There are a lot of ways you can Make Money Blogging. Here are some tips:
1. Google Adsense
Sign up for a Google Adsense account and display Google ads on your blog. This is contextual advertising so relevant to your content ads will come up and when people click on those ads, you’ll make money.
There isn’t a set amount of money as Google doesn’t reveal the prices to help keep the system “honest” but you can qualify for payout each time you reach the milestone of $100.00.
2. ClickBank
ClickBank is a digital affiliate program. You can advertise other peoples’ membership programs and e-books and make a commission every time someone buys. You can put the links that track your affiliate hoplink in your text, in banners or chicklets, or in your blogroll.
3. Amazon
Amazon affiliate program members often display ads on their blog. Amazon sells everything from A to Z these days so you can focus on selling specific Amazon items on your blog or let a contextual widget recommend products, depending on the content on the page. You can get paid in cheques or in Amazon gift cards.
4. Paid Links And Reviews
Once your blog is popular, people may pay you to put their links, reviews, and banners on your site. People could pay $5 – $100 or more for a blog link, few paragraphs of text, or a banner on your site.
5. Other Ads
There are dozens and dozens of other affiliate programs and ad banners that you can put on your blog to help you monetize it. You can also advertise your own products on the blog as well!
How To Make Money From Blogging
Not everyone Makes Money Blogging. It can take time, regular posting, and a lot of effort to build a following and start to see some rewards. If you find a blog niche that you are passionate enough to write regularly on, it could definitely pay off.
Here are some ways to increase the chances that your blog will be a success:
Follow Expert Advice
There are a lot of blogging professionals out there who dole out free advice to help you Make Money Blogging. Darren Rowse, aka Problogger, is a great example of a blog you could follow that would help you learn to be a better blogger.
Organic SEO
Plan a blog strategically. Think about your keywords and the types of blogs you link to so that you can increase your traffic potential. Targeted traffic can equate to people landing on the blog that might buy something or click your paid ads.
Social Marketing
Social media marketing is a great way to increase the exposure for your blog. By participating on social networks, bookmarking your blog posts, and networking you can bring more traffic to the blog.
Pay Per Click Advertising
If you want to bring more traffic you might consider bidding on certain high traffic keywords so that you can bring targeted traffic (who might buy from you) to your blog.
Quality, Quantity And Value
Regardless of what methods you use, the best thing to do is post regularly, post great content, and interact with your readers and you can have a successful blog that you enjoy spending time working on.

Hi Sean,
Darren Rowse from Problogger is great, hey? It’s good to find another Aussie in here even if you are at the other side of the country. Bunbury is nice but not nearly as as nice as Hervey Bay in Qld. Still, today you have hot weather there and we are in the grip of record breaking floods. But it’s wet and that is what matters most after 10 years!
Are you also a member of Yaro and Gideon’s site? They are Brisbane based and also very, very helpful.
Take Care,
Jan
Hi Jan
It’s great to learn from other Aussie’s. I’m not a member of many sites. I keep myself busy producing articles and information, I don’t really browse the internet too much.
Hi Jan,
I have not been to Western Australia yet, but I will get there , I came here to Brisbane in 91 only to stay for a short time, but hear I am still here, and I love it.
Hi Sean,
I guess it depends on what you blog about how well you do you SEO, how persistent you are.
Others should realise that it DOES in most cases take much more than just a few weeks to build your presence online.
I thought when I first started it would happen right away, boy!! was I wrong, there is so much to learn and so it takes time.
Hey there’s a kiwi here too but don’t hold that against me.
So many different ways to monetize. Have to think about it for a while.
Hey, and I’m here too, 4 Aussies….and a Kiwi.
hope you don’t mind, too much. Either way though, we all agree that this is a great blog post.
I must admit though I believe I do consider a Kiwi to be an Aussie as well. Sorry Gee,
Thanks Sean,
No that’s ok. Kiwis are a bit like that except on the sporting field
Hello Sean,
Making money from Blogging is my next step. I love to blog and to get paid for it? Gee that is a fantastic life.
Will sign up for Google Adsense, Amazon, and Pay per click. Looks like I really need to add these to my blogs. I am already on Click bank – mind you I have not thought to add it to my blog!! Which do you prefer from clickbank – banners or text. or putting it in your blog as a link at the bottom of the page?
Cheers
Lisa
You can go either way Lisa, including an affiliate link within relevant text, or using banners are worthwhile. It just depends how much promotion you want to do on your site, and what products you want to focus on. You cannot focus on everything, and it is best not to give your readers too many options.
Hi Sean,
Thanks for constantly outlining the different options we can take to monetize our blogs. I’m planning to work my way through each of them and I’m expecting some awesome results.
