One of the best ways to keep traffic coming is to write about current events wherever possible.
People are interested in what’s going on in your industry and in the media in general and if you are one of the first to write about a hot topic, you can get plenty of search engine traffic as well as favour on the popular social marketing sites.
Beyond writing about the latest and greatest news related to your own topic, finding ways to work in keywords and blurbs that match current events is going to add increased appeal for your audience.
What Should You Blog About?
Tools like Google Trends provide a great way for you to find out what it is that people are searching for information about and data mining on social sites like Twitter can help you figure out how to use a hot topic to your advantage by talking about it and driving traffic to your sites with the mere mention of it.
If you use your imagination you can often make a hot topic relevant to your business so that it does make sense for you to write about it. Yahoo Alerts and Google Alerts are both a great way for you to keep reading current info about your topic as well as they deliver news to your inbox regularly.
When it comes to your Blog Content, there are other ways you need to stay current as well.
Outdated Info
Is there outdated info on your blog? It “might” be fine if it lives in archives, but be sure your landing page, about page and the footer of your blog don’t appear outdated.
Out Of Date Posts
While some of the posts on your blog may or may not be considered current or reflect your current situation, these blog posts may still be valuable. They might bring you traffic and teach your visitors something. Instead of deleting them, it’s not a bad idea to write update posts that link to the old posts and also to ad an addendum to the old post that points to an update.
Linking within your site is always a good idea so consider looking through those first posts you wrote and seeing where you can create hyperlinks to keep people on your blog as often as possible. (The longer they stay, the more chances of them subscribing or buying something!)
Check For Broken Links
Update any broken links in blog entries as well as in your blogroll. Check with a traffic analyser tool and it’ll show you whether or not people are getting Error 404’s on your page.
Cutting edge has appeal, and if your Blog Content is well-managed, well-written, and entertaining as well, you’ll attract more subscribers and that is something that typically equates to more profit.
Have a most outstanding day.
