If you’re internet marketing but not Twittering yet, you could be missing out. Twitter is a microblogging tool that enables you to network with others. There are many marketing and non-marketing ways in which you can utilise this tool. The key to making Twitter a fruitful experience is to both follow and to be followed.
Follow and Be Followed
When you sign up, you can have Twitter check your e-mail accounts to see if anyone in your contact list is currently using Twitter and add them to your friends list. Then you can start searching through their friends lists to see if you know anyone else and / or you find anyone else follow-worthy. Anyone can follow anyone else unless they’re locked and anyone on the public time line can have their status updates browsed. Through many different tools you can find people by searching for keywords through their status updates and this can help you find people to market to.
The Secret to Twitter
If you’re a helpful Twitterer and can be interesting, entertaining and succinct in your 160 characters or less you can definitely make some online friends and potential sales customers. You need to be helpful, be interesting and be follow- worthy. Don’t simply pump out links expecting people to click them. Don’t be too salesy. If you find the right mix you can have a large list of followers who will click your links, re-tweet your tweets and participate in conversations with you which can bring their followers to your profile page. There are also a lot of tools that can utilize this tool and mine for very useful information in it so checking out Twitter add-ons can also be useful.

Are there any twitter tools you would particularly recommend? I am after any that are very easy to use until I get used to twitter
Hi Sean,
The Twitter “tool” that you recommended recently on your webinar, and recommended that we sign up to, “Social Oomph” is perfect to manage twitter account. It’s so handy. I’m using “TweetDesk” that is very similar, and at the time, a godsend to manage my twitter accounts. I may change over soon though, if I find Social Oomph has more features. Do you recommend I change over?
Thanks for the post, Sean.
Hello Sean,
I love using twitter because its a quick way to promote yourself and/or your business with only 160 characters or less. I still don’t get how the rich and famous can be saying that they use twitter and have so many followers. Please, they must have people do there work for them? I find using Twitter great way to connect with other like minded business people. If I do find a line that I do not like from a follower I can either ignore them, or unfollow them
Cheers
Lisa
