Do you have a favourite source for getting great results online? Some people swear by one article directory, a specific social bookmarking tool,or a certain microblogging tool for maximum effectiveness. Understanding as much as possible about the tools you use can help you maximise your earning potential.
By spreading the love around, you can analyse results and decide where to focus your efforts but while you do that, you might want to consider Choosing An Article Directory to focus on as your primary option. Quite often the best way to measure real results is to be consistent.
There are good things associated with posting regularly on a specific article directory, such as increased exposure on that site which may bring you perks. If not perks, you may be able to dominate a particular directory for your niche, which can bring you free online traffic.
Also, once you learn the editorial guidelines and the submission procedures, using the same directory regularly can make the process of article marketing faster for you.
Things to consider when Choosing An Article Directory include:
- Pagerank – A site with decent pagerank with search engines can increase the amount of exposure and value of the backlinks.
- Approval Turnaround – How long will it take to get your articles live? This might be important for your article marketing strategy, especially if you focus on current events and trends in your writing approach.
- Editorial Ease – Some article directories are known as effective but some make it so difficult to get an article approved that it’s not worth your time.
- Effectiveness – If you focus on a primary article directory and don’t start to see results after a while, you might have chosen the wrong directory. Results to look for include: SERP results, page views, click through rate, and amount of articles syndicated.
- Tools – What tools are available to contributors for that site? Are there widgets and RSS feeds for you to utilise? Will you get front page exposure? Are there social media tools built into the article for ease of bookmarking by visitors?
- Relevancy – Some article directories (like EzineArticles) cater to the general public. Some are more niche specific. When Choosing An Article Directory to focus on, be sure that your topic is relevant to the average visitor to that website. Look at existence of relevant categories for instance. Another consideration for relevancy is how many articles in your category are already posted.
Have a most outstanding day.

This is a very good post on a subject that is rarely discussed. The only point that I will add is to pay careful attention to each article directory’s Terms of Service (TOS). If you run afoul of them, your article will not be approved.
Other than that, submitting to article directories is a very smart marketing strategy, for all for the reasons you cite above. Thank you for posting on this important topic.
I agree, its quality that counts most of all. Quantity is important too, but without quality quantity is a waste of time and effort.
I focus my efforts on a select few directories that work well for me
cheers
