Article Syndication Success – How To Make It Happen

When articles go viral, there are some great benefits for your SEO and to your overall marketing efforts. People see your content, they are exposed to your brand, and you can use this attention in the limelight as an opportunity to widen your marketing reach. Don’t underestimate the power of article syndication.Article Syndication

When you make your articles available for re-print, several things can happen, such as an increase in popularity, opportunity to reach new customers, and improved traffic surge to your website.

If you can make it happen, you can get results from it that equate to traffic, reaching targeted customers, and increasing your popularity in your niche market.

Not all articles submitted to article directories will get picked up by people. But here are some tips for increasing your chance to achieve article syndication success:

Catchy Title

If the title grabs people’s attention, it will do wonders for getting mentioned on social sites as well as enticing people to click. That will help you and also encourage other web publishers to publish your article.

A Great Teaser / First Paragraph

How will you hook the reader? Beyond the title, the first paragraph has to convince them that the article is worth reading.

Article Syndication Success – All About Great Content

Does your article regurgitate info or does it provide a fresh spin? Is it newsworthy / shareworthy? Some of the top syndicated articles are considered hot topics that people are interested in. By writing about something hot, you’ll have more of a chance of other people wanting to capitalise on the story as well.

Beyond the content being interesting and well-written, to get the most out of article syndication, it needs to be something that people will want to re-publish. Think of reader value rather than being self-serving. If you serve the readers well, chances are you’ll get more mileage out of that article than if you use it as a sales pitch. If it’s too salesy, most websites won’t want to publish it either.

Linking

Make sure your links are well utilised with articles for article syndication. Because anyone who publishes the article needs to attribute you as the author and keep your links in tact, it’s to your advantage to put some thought into the article resource box.

Make it brief and succinct, use it to get people interested in learning more about you, and most of all, make good use of keyword anchor text links. Don’t make the link a “click here”; instead use a keyword phrase you’d really like to rank for. The more people that publish the article enables you to get more backlinks with that phrase being used and that could result in some page one results for that keyword.

Promote Your Article

Ask friends to post it, ask friends to share it on Facebook or Tweet it, and do some social bookmarking and linking yourself. Once you start things off in terms of getting the article some attention, it might pick up speed on its own from there.

It’s not always easy to create viral articles with article syndication but with a bit of effort and some great content, it could be the ticket to some great results.

  1. Great straight forward advice. The headline is so important in any article. The marketing guru David Ogilvy once declared that if you had $1 to spend on marketing, 80c should be invested on getting the right headline. Engaging interest through curiosity is the way to go.

    • I totally agree there David. Even with top rankings or highly placed PPC ads, a poorly written headline will more than likely entice the searcher to click the result under yours that has a more catchy and interesting title.

  2. Article writing is one of my joys and pleasures. I will now want to investigate your suggestion of making them available for reprint.

I am not sure what is meant by viral, but will look it up and find out.

I am sure you know the site, but I am very pleased with distributeyourarticles.com. The articles are reviewed by real people and the comments, suggestions and criticisms that they give you before they will publish and distribute your article are always spot on and very helpful. When needing help they are also very quick and thorough in responding and helping you through the process. They are quite tough which I like because I feel that all the articles that they agree to distribute have to fit into very specific guidelines which are the right ones for keeping us on the straight and narrow.

I know that I have a lot to learn about article writing and sharing and all that, but I am busy doing my best and with your help and suggestions hopefully I will get better quickly.

    Thanks.

    • Hi Dobbs
Great to see you are getting into article marketing, it can be a very worthwhile strategy. When referring to a “viral” article it means the article gets spread virally simply by word of mouth and by people sharing the article all over the internet.

  3. Hi Sean

If you’ve written the article yourself, as most bloggers do, so much work goes into it that you want to reap the rewards. It would be a shame not to. Thanks for the leg-up!

  4. Yes Lina. We spend so much time on the writing we want it to be over the place.
Some excellent ideas from Sean how to do that

  5. Hi Sean,
I think this one has a great title. “How to make it happen”
This headline has the potential to grab the interest of readers from any generation and it has the potential to draw attention to many topics of interest. It’s clever, Sean.

  6. Hello Sean,

“How to Make It Happen” – with a lit bit f hard work, a lot of passion, big dose of persistence and 110% of belief. Oh and yes know how to right the Article so that it is Compeling. Nothing worse than looking at a title and getting excited about the topic, to only find that either the title is misleading, or the article was not on the topic that it was meant to be.

    Cheers
    Lisa

  7. Sounds great. What I still have a problem understanding is – how does it get re-printed. Through a link to my original article? Or Does someone take the whole article and put it on their website? Don’t they get punished for duplicate content?
I have to admit I am a bit confused.

    • Yes Renee, when you publish an article in an article directory, you are giving permission for others to use your article (most article directories anyway). They can either use an excerpt or the entire article and they need to keep the links intact. Don’t worry about the duplicate content issue as that is their problem.

    • Hi Renee,
Don’t worry you are not the only one having a problem with understanding, there is so much we have to learn, we are bound to be a bit confused at times.

  8. Thanks, Sean, that clarifies it for me. I have read your other information about this before but reading it again enables me to learn things I didn’t ‘get’ the previous times and to now understand the subject of article syndication better and more fully now.

    Hi Sean,

I think it would be great to have an article go viral. So, I see once again I need a catchy headline and an attention grabbing initial paragraph. Then I just have to back it up with content that’s going to make readers want to share it. And, it’s not like my resource boxes have set the world on fire. :)

I have so much work to do in this area it’s not funny any more. I can see this is going to take some serious time and effort. When my first article goes viral, I think it will be pizza and drinks for everyone. :)

  10. Hi Sean,
Thanks for the great advice on Article Marketing, its something I must do more of, for sure.
Writing a catchy Title is certainly an art that can boost your results, and something I’m endeavoring to improve with my own writing.
I like your suggestion to write articles which are serving the reader with fresh or interesting content, rather than being promotional or self serving, especially for article marketing.

  11. Thanks for the great advice on Article Marketing, its something I must do more of, for sure.

Great article. I’ve been doing article syndication for some time now and, luckily, I came across a pretty good guide concerning the whole topic … and I mean a guide that covers everything from A-Z.

The author, Tiff Lee, seems to know what she is talking about. Anybody interested in article syndication should check it out: http://tiffleecontent.com

  13. Hello Sean! I’m a little bit confused about article syndication. For example, I have an article and submitted it on goarticles, then do I need to submit it again to multiple article submission sites? I’m looking forward for your reply. Thanks!

  14. Great article bro. I was nil in article syndication but your article made me clear about many points. Thanks

  15. Does article submission really work? Can you just create an article and spin it 20 times to sibmit to article directories and this will give you some good back links? I’ve been told article pages carry no link value and should be avoided but im determining wether to carry on submitting articles or not because i think it may of helped with my ranking.

  16. Article submission isn’t as effective at passing link juice to your money site these days. However, it can still be a source of good traffic. Lately I have been experimenting with building web 2.0 properties (hub pages, squidoo, wordpress.com) and linking them to my money site and using article syndication to link to those properties. I am seeing considerable ranking results with this process. I also separate lower article directories from some of the more reputable ones like ezine, goarticle, article dashboard etc.

  17. Article Submission was, is and is surely going to be among the best ways to market your website. What best one can do is check for the sites which have high PR before submitting articles on the same. Low PR directories and some new ones which take lesser time to approve your articles will surely not fetch you as much traffic or juice as you want. However, there is another surprising news I heard from knol that they are going to shut down their blog. It was a great source of traffic and anybody could immediately get their article approved. With knol closing down, there is another lesson that the link which you get from such sites is not going to stay forever.
