You can try a Wordpress plugin called "Pretty Link" James, it works quite well. You can also try services like bit.ly and tinyurl. You can also cloak links via PHP, this is too advanced to explain here, but doing a Google search should give you the info you require. As for what to promote, you would be promoting the product that you are an affiliate of wouldn't you? Not sure I understand that part of the question!

I like the idea behind affiliate marketing, but i'm worried about people hijacking affiliate commissions. I want to promote an affiliate link for a real estate website. How do i cloak this affiliate link so in the case i post it somewhere it doesn't get changed and i lose commissions. I have a yoga website. How do i upload this file to my web server for my yoga site. After i cloaked the affiliate link what do i promote.

It never hurts to cover your bases with affiliate links. Why risk the chance of losing sales ;-)

Hi Jackie,

That's a great question. I'm not sure they would. In my pre-internet marketing days; I'd just search for what I wanted without thinking about whether it was an affiliate product or not.

You'd think it would only be people used to using affiliate links that would know. It would be really interesting to know what Sean thinks of this one.

Most of the time I cloak my affiliate link but I'm wondering to the 'normal' consumer, do they even look at the browser when searching for something? I know before I got into internet marketing, I would type what I wanted into the search bar and just wait for it to come up. I never looked at the browser to find out if it was an affiliate product or not.
