How Promotional Should Your Email Newsletter Be?

Great newsletters as a form of e-mail marketing can sell stuff!

It’s happened to me, and I’m sure it’s probably happened to you too. In the past I have seen a good email newsletter and signed up to receive it in order to get hold of what looks like a good source of free information.

Things went well to begin with and I really came to enjoy that particular email newsletter when it arrived every week. But then things started to change. It became less about offering good information to its readers and more about promoting certain products each time. Eventually I stopped subscribing altogether.

Connect to you Customers

Writing TipsNow I know that a lot of people make a lot of money from their email newsletter, and I’m not saying that you shouldn’t use it as self promotion and to promote products in them because that’s half the reason you send them out in the first place. There are some great newsletter tips out there.

But notice that I said half the reason. The other half is to connect with your customers and give them real value, even though they are getting your email newsletter for free. If you don’t give people enough reasons to keep on reading your email newsletter they will simply delete it as soon as they see it arrive, because they know it will be nothing more than an advert in disguise.

Create a Steady Balance

You need to maintain a balance between giving your customers valuable information and also letting them know about certain products – and ironically if you take the bonus off of selling they will actually be more likely to provide you with an income, since they will view you as someone to be trusted and they will pay more attention when you tell them you have something to recommend them to.

So make sure you pay attention to what you are putting in your email newsletter. It could mean the difference between people opting out of receiving it, or carrying on reading it for months and years to come.

Free IM Tool of the Day: Live Keyword Analysis

Free SEO tools are abundant online and can help you with your SEO and internet marketing efforts.  Here’s another one worth mentioning.

Live Keyword Analysis is a url that offers a free keyword analysis tool. You can use this tool to help you hit a specific % of keyword density for your website content.  This can be helpful when trying to hit a number that’s high enough for positive SEO while also trying to stay below a certain keyword density on words and phrases  as well.

Why is Keyword Density Important?

While using relevant and popular keywords are necessary in your content so that search engines will index you for relevant keywords enabling potential subscribers and customers to find you, if you keyword stuff your content you won’t have much luck either with SERP’s (search engine results pages) OR with people because the content won’t read well.

A fine balance between good content that’s readable to people as well as readable to search engine spiders is necessary and this free tool can help.

Live Keyword Analysis lets you plug your text in and indicate which keywords you want measured.  As you continue to type in the text box the site will update the stats for you so that you can see where you might need to up or lower keyword frequency.

As you strive to hit the right balance between good content and keyword rich content this free tool can definitely help you.

Holiday Time Management Tips

In the world of Internet marketing it’s tricky to stay balanced.  Sometimes we procrastinate and need to give ourselves a kick in the butt but more often than not, we don’t stop and smell the roses often enough because we’re so passionate about our business.

The holidays are a great time for spending time with family and reflecting on what’s most important.  How do you keep your business running during this time without alienating those around you who don’t understand that there isn’t a lot of time off for entrepreneurs? It can be tricky to simply go on holidays when you have a business to run and want to keep income streams flowing.

Holiday Time Management Ideas

  • Work really hard the few weeks before the holidays and then take time off entirely
  • Take time off and spend just 1 hour a day managing the ‘must do’s’ each day
  • Hire a virtual assistant and offer them extra incentive to work over the holidays for you. They might not want to work Christmas day but could help you throughout the rest of the week between Christmas and the New Year.
  • Set your ‘out of office assistant’ on your e-mail and autoresponders so that clients / customers / colleagues will understand the delays
  • Put cash aside throughout the year to take care of holiday down time so the time off won’t attack your bank account

Regardless of whether you take a day off or a week off it is important to take time for yourself and your family.  After all, isn’t being an entrepreneur about freedom and flexibility?

Should You Go With What You Know?

Getting started in internet marketing is an exciting prospect. But it can be overwhelming too. There are so many options to consider that you would be forgiven for not knowing where to turn or what to try first.

ideasThis is where a little thought can go a long way. Many people start off in internet marketing by sticking with what’s familiar to them. For example, if you have a natural interest in wine making you might set up your own website giving lots of information to novice winemakers. You could try and find some e-books on the subject which offer an affiliate scheme to make money from.

Starting with what you know certainly gives you a direction and focus to start with, and you are on familiar ground as well, which helps you to get off to a roaring start.

But should you stick with what you know in the long run? After all those subjects you are familiar with may not have a wide enough scope to make you your first million in internet marketing. That’s when you need to think about branching out and identifying other areas of internet marketing to get involved with.

Explore Other Options

You don’t need to go for areas which you have no knowledge of at all, however. There is a temptation to jump in the deep end after a while, especially if your success in internet marketing has been fuelled by a subject you know a lot about.

Try and ensure you maintain a balance between making the most of what you know, and exploring other areas which may yield even more in internet marketing profits. If you do this you will get a much better end result – and you will learn and earn far more as a result.
